In Joshua 5:13-15, Joshua thought he was alone surveying Jericho and wondering how God could possibly win this battle. Then he came face to face with the Commander of the Lord's army -- sword drawn, presence undeniable, ground made holy beneath their feet.

The question Joshua asked -- "Are you for us or for our adversaries?" -- is one we ask too. But the Commander's answer reframes everything. God does not take sides. The real question is whether we are on His side.

The second chapter of Joshua reveals to us the incredible story of Rahab the harlot who lived in the soon-to-be rubble of Jericho. She provided safety for Joshua's two spies, and made a faith declaration in Israel's God, Jehovah Elohim. She saved them and then took a dramatic leap of faith...maybe they would also save her. Maybe their God would show Himself merciful to even someone like Rahab. She takes the leap, and God brings her into fellowship with His own people. Both James and the Hebrew writer recall her faith which has given her a new identity, and God even includes her in the lineage of Jesus Christ His Son! Have you made the leap of faith? God is waiting to catch you into His saving arms!

What does it look like to lead with courage when the path ahead seems impossible? This week we continued in the book of Joshua, where an 80-year-old warrior received his commission from God -- not to retire, but to rise up and lead an entire nation into their inheritance.

God is not done with you in any season of life. Whatever your age, your circumstances, or your doubts, he is calling you to fix your eyes on Jesus and get busy for his kingdom.

Big sandals are hard to fill. When Joshua stepped up after Moses, he faced an impossible task — leading God's people into a promised land full of giants and fortified cities. Yet God told him again and again: be strong and courageous.

Why could Joshua stand firm? Three unshakeable foundations: God's promises are true, God's word is a sure guide, and God's presence never leaves. As Hebrews reminds us, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" — a promise spoken to Joshua that belongs to every believer today.

Whatever you are facing right now — in your family, your health, your nation — you are not alone. The same God who parted rivers and toppled walls is with you. Not beside you. In you.

Join us as we begin our new series through the book of Joshua. Be strong and courageous — not because the road is easy, but because God is faithful.

New sermon series begins this Sunday, August 2 - The Book of Joshua

Beginning August 2nd, BCF will dive into the historical account of Joshua and the conquest of the long-awaited Promised Land. This book teaches us much about God's commitment to deliver on His promises by His power through His people. Seemingly insurmountable obstacles simply fall apart before His mighty arm, but despite His power and might, He choses to work through feeble people who need to hear His encouragement, "Be strong and courageous!" May our strength and courage in the Lord be renewed through our study.

No need to search for the Ark of the Covenant! God's New Covenant prophet declares the reality of the new covenant which, by God's Spirit, which will now enable the human heart to have God's righteous Law enscribed upon it. And He will be enthroned in worship in His new temple comprised of new covenant members who faithfully and righteously worship Him. (Jeremiah 3:16-17)

Summer Sermon Series at BCF begins this Sunday: The Kingdom of God

Have you ever stopped to consider the overall storyline of Scripture? In other words, what is the overarching message of Scripture that is relayed throughout its sixty-six books written by approximately forty different authors over roughly fifteen-hundred years in three original languages? In this summer’s sermon series at BCF, we will learn that the Bible tells one unified story about Jesus Christ, who has come both to redeem the world from sin, and to reign as the eternal King. At the conclusion, my prayer is that you will be equipped to engage in conversations with neighbors and strangers and ask if they would like to know what the whole Bible is about in less than three minutes! And for our own study, knowing the overall story of Scripture will help us know how all of the various parts of Scripture fit together in the story. Come learn how the Kingdom of God is the central storyline of Scripture.

Sunday services are held at Voss Middle School at 9 AM. We hope to see you there!
