Last week our message was all about the healing power of connection, connection with each other and connection with Christ. Part of the message, the video from the series The Chosen, was taken down. A dear friend and former Pastor suggested we might do a follow up devotional to this message and sent me his thoughts. I like the idea. Be blessed. Pastor Pat
When the woman in Luke 8 reached out to touch the edge of Jesus’ cloak, she wasn’t just hoping for healing—she was reaching for hope, for connection, for peace. For twelve long years, she had lived in isolation, carrying both physical pain and the weight of being unseen.
Then, in a single moment of faith, everything shifted. Jesus stopped. He saw her. He called her “Daughter.” That word wasn’t small—it was deeply personal. In that moment, He didn’t just heal her body; He restored her dignity, gave her belonging, and welcomed her into relationship. So many people today know what it feels like to be disconnected—disconnected from God, from others, even from their own sense of purpose. But throughout Scripture, we’re reminded that healing doesn’t happen in isolation—it often comes through connection.
Connection with Christ brings peace.
Connection with community brings strength.
Connection with God’s family reminds us who we are.
And the beautiful truth is this: Jesus still meets us when we reach for Him in faith.
Reflection Question:
Where in your life might you be longing for deeper connection—with Christ, with community, or with others?
Prayer:
Jesus, draw me closer to You. Strengthen my faith, place me in life-giving community, and remind me that I am seen, known, and part of Your family. Amen.
