ASCENSION DAILY PRAYER May 31, 2026
The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity
First Sunday after Pentecost

Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit;
to God who is, who was, and who is to come. Revelation 1: 8
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Quote:
“Father,” “Son,” “Holy Spirit” are not simply names designating modalities of the divine being, for they are really distinct from one another: “He is not the Father who is the Son, nor is the Son he who is the Father, nor is the Holy Spirit he who is the Father or the Son” (Council of Toledo XI (675)). They are distinct from one another in their relations of origin: “It is the Father who generates, the Son who is begotten, and the Holy Spirit who proceeds” (Lateran Council IV (1215)). The divine Unity is Triune.~Catechism of the Catholic Church #254

In Sacred Scripture and Church teaching, God’s attributes and existence can be summed up as Love. “God is love” (1 John 4:8). Love cannot exist without a giver, a receiver, and the love that unites them. Hence, it is the very nature of God to love perfectly, to receive love perfectly, and to be love itself. In the Holy Trinity, the Father loves the Son, the Son loves the Father, and this mutual love is personified in the Holy Spirit.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made…I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. AMEN

ASCENSION DAILY PRAYER May 30, 2026
MEMORIAL OF ST. JOAN OF ARC
PATRON OF SOLDIERS AND FRANCE

Beloved, remember the words spoken beforehand
by the Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Build yourselves up in your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit.
Keep yourselves in the love of God
and wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ
that leads to eternal life.
On those who waver, have mercy;
save others by snatching them out of the fire;
on others have mercy with fear,
abhorring even the outer garment stained by the flesh. JUDE 17, 21-23

In a world full of noise and uncertainty, St. Joan of Arc reminds us what it means to listen to God's voice with courage and act with unwavering faith, even when the world doesn’t understand us.
Though she was young and untrained, she led armies and inspired a nation, all because she trusted in the divine call placed in her heart.

What is God asking of you today?
Maybe it's not leading troops into battle , but it might be standing up for truth, forgiving someone, or staying faithful when it’s hard.

“I am not afraid… I was born to do this.” – St. Joan of Arc

St. Joan of Arc, pray that we may be brave, faithful, and open to God’s will in our lives. Pray for us. AMEN (EWTN)

ASCENSION DAILY PRAYER May 29, 2026
Memorial of Saint Paul VI, Pope
1897–1978
Patron Saint of Vatican Council II
Canonized by Pope Francis on October 14, 2018

And so I say to you, you are Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my Church,
and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.
Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;
and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” MATTHEW 16: 18-19

On October 11, 1962, Pope John XXIII formally opened the Second Vatican Council. In less than a year, however, the pope would die of stomach cancer. The pope’s vision for the council was to bring the ancient faith of the Church into closer connection to the modern world. He foresaw a new Pentecost, or a new springtime for the Church. The Holy Father also wanted to reach beyond the Catholic Church to seek greater union with people of all faiths and those with no faith at all. Though the central mission of the Church was to preach the saving message of Jesus Christ, he also saw the Church as a necessary institution sent by God to assist all peoples with the emerging issues of the day, such as modernization, communism, economic progress, war, and poverty. The Church needed to be an active force within every human and societal structure.

After the death of Pope John XXIII, Pope Paul VI was elected on June 21, 1963. As pope, he re-opened and presided over the remaining sessions of the Second Vatican Council and oversaw the implementation of its schema. He also implemented new liturgical rites for the sacraments and a new liturgical calendar. Pope Paul VI was the first traveling pope, making apostolic journeys to seventeen different countries. During his journeys, he challenged churches and nations to address world peace, social justice, poverty, illiteracy, ecumenism, and world unity. Pope Saint Paul VI was one of the first popes to face the many challenges and blessings that have come from modernization. He sought to keep the ancient faith of the Church ever ancient while also making it ever new and relevant to a world in need. He sought unity among Christians, peace among nations, and respect for the dignity of all. Pope Saint Paul VI, pray for us

Ascension Daily Prayer May 28, 2026

You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, a people of his own,
so that you may announce the praises of him
who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Once you were “no people” but now you are God’s people;
you “had not received mercy” but now you have received mercy. 1 Peter 2: 9

Peter uses the language of ancient Israel (the Old Testament passage is noted) and applies it to the new Christian people: “a chosen race” (cf. Is 43:20–21) indicates their divine election (Eph 1:4–6); “a royal priesthood” (cf. Ex 19:6) to serve and worship God in Christ, thus continuing the priestly functions of his life, passion, and resurrection; “a holy nation” (Ex 19:6) reserved for God, a people he claims for his own (cf. Mal 3:17) in virtue of their baptism into his death and resurrection. This transcends all natural and national divisions and unites the people into one community to glorify the one who led them from the darkness of paganism to the light of faith in Christ. From being “no people” deprived of all mercy, they have become the very people of God, the chosen recipients of his mercy (cf. Hos 1:9; 2:23). (bible notes and notations from the USCCB)

"The New is in the Old concealed; the Old is in the New revealed.” This is a famous quote from St. Augustine about the Old and New Testaments of the bible. We see this in action in today’s scripture as Peter uses Old Testament language to explain to these new Christians what Christ has done for them. Thank you Lord Jesus that You have chosen me as Your own according to the words of St. Peter. St. Peter, pray for us. Amen.

ASCENSION DAILY PRAYER May 26, 2026
Memorial of Saint Philip Neri, Priest
1515–1595
Patron Saint of Rome, joy, comedians, and artists
Canonized by Pope Gregory XV on March 12, 1622

Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth;
you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the Kingdom.
R. Alleluia, alleluia. MATTHEW 11: 25

Quote:
Leafing through the biography of St Philip, in fact, one is surprised and fascinated by the cheerful and relaxed method he used to educate, supporting each person with fraternal generosity and patience. As is well known, the saint used to put his teaching into short and wise maxims: “Be good, if you can;” “Scruples and melancholy, stay away from my house;” “Be simple and humble;” “He who does not pray is a speechless animal;” and, bringing his hand to his forehead, “Holiness is three fingers deep.” Behind the cleverness of these and many other “sayings,” we are aware of the acute and realistic knowledge he had acquired of human nature and the dynamics of grace. ~Saint John Paul II

As a priest, Father Phillip’s ministry would occupy him for the rest of his life. He became a confessor to countless sinners, poor and rich alike. At first, he spent a few hours every day in the confessional, but eventually he would spend most of the day. As a confessor, Father Philip had profound spiritual gifts. He could read souls, identify sins that needed to be confessed, give supernatural counsel, perform miracles, and speak words of divine love that flowed directly from the Heart of Christ.

Saint Philip Neri was a true missionary who re-evangelized the Christians of Rome, one soul at a time. His miracles, ecstasies during prayer, and ability to read souls were enough to convince everyone of his holiness. But setting those supernatural phenomena aside, it was the joy that radiated from his heart, a heart united to the Divine Heart of Christ, that was the surest sign of his sanctity. As we honor this saint of joy, think about the importance of the gift of joy in your own life. Joy is a spiritual gift and comes from God alone. Open your heart to that gift.

St. Philip Neri, pray for us. AMEN

ASCENSION DAILY PRAYER
Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church
Celebrated the Monday after Pentecost

Quote:
Indeed, the Mother standing beneath the cross (cf. Jn 19:25), accepted her Son’s testament of love and welcomed all people in the person of the beloved disciple as sons and daughters to be reborn unto life eternal. She thus became the tender Mother of the Church which Christ begot on the cross handing on the Spirit. Christ, in turn, in the beloved disciple, chose all disciples as ministers of his love towards his Mother, entrusting her to them so that they might welcome her with filial affection. ~From the Decree of the Congregation of Divine Worship adding the Memorial of Mary, Mother of the Church to the General Roman Calendar

On September 17, 1997, Pope John Paul II defined it this way:
The title “Mother of the Church” thus reflects the deep conviction of the Christian faithful, who see in Mary not only the mother of the person of Christ, but also of the faithful. She who is recognized as mother of salvation, life and grace, mother of the saved and mother of the living, is rightly proclaimed Mother of the Church. ( #5).

As we honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, know that she is your spiritual mother insofar as you are a member of Christ’s Body, the Church. Blessed Mary, Mother of God and the Church, pray for us. Amen.

In thanksgiving and gratitude for those who bravely gave their lives for our freedom, on this Memorial Day, we offer our prayers for the fallen. Lord, hear our prayers of honor and praise. Amen.

PENTECOST SUNDAY

When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled,
they were all in one place together.
And suddenly there came from the sky
a noise like a strong driving wind,
and it filled the entire house in which they were.
Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire,
which parted and came to rest on each one of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak in different tongues,
as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. ACTS 2: 1-4

Pentecost IS the birthday of the Church. The Holy Spirit’s mission was to form the Church and empower each baptized member of Christ’s body to fulfill his or her specific duty. Some were to preach, some cared for the poor, some shed their blood for their faith, and others were to be sent to other towns and villages. The scattering of the community of the believers in Jerusalem was clearly permitted by the Holy Spirit as a way of expanding the Church beyond Jerusalem. The newly converted and empowered disciples traveled far and wide to expand the newborn Church that grew at a rapid pace as the new Body of Christ matured and fulfilled its mission. In the years and centuries ahead, the Holy Spirit continued to form the Church. The same applies today as we continue to ask the Holy Spirit to guide us and build the Church.

As we celebrate the great Solemnity of Pentecost, call on the Holy Spirit in your life. And so we pray:
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love. AMEN
