Let’s Gather Together This Sunday

This Sunday’s Gospel from Matthew 18:15–20 reminds us of the importance of community, reconciliation, and being present for one another.

Jesus tells us, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”

This Sunday, we have another reason to gather as Fr. John Warfel begins his time with us at St. Andrew’s. Fr. John will be with us throughout September and October, and we look forward to welcoming him and sharing these next two months together.

Looking Ahead to Sunday!

This Sunday, we hear Jesus speak to his disciples about what it means to follow him. In Matthew 16:21–28, Jesus reminds us that discipleship calls us to take up our cross and faithfully follow where he leads.

Sunday is also Fr. Chris Gray’s last Sunday with us for the summer season. We are grateful for his faithful ministry, his care for our parish family, and all he has shared with us this summer.

The photo below, from our Pie Sunday on August 16, is a wonderful reminder of the fellowship and community we share at St. Andrew’s. Thank you to Bert Rowan for the delicious homemade pies, and to Debbie Turner for helping with Coffee Hour—and thank you, Fr. Chris, for being part of so many of these special moments with us.

As we move into September and October, we look forward to welcoming Fr. John Warfel, who will lead us in worship during those months.

Feast of St. Bartholomew

Today, August 24, we celebrate the Feast of St. Bartholomew the Apostle, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. In the Gospel of John, Bartholomew is traditionally identified with Nathanael, who responded to Philip’s invitation to meet Jesus with an open heart and a willingness to “come and see.”

His story reminds us that faith often begins with a simple invitation—and that God can call each of us to follow, serve, and share the Good News.

August 20 | Bernard of Clairvaux

Today we remember Bernard of Clairvaux (1090–1153), a Cistercian monk, abbot, and theologian whose life was devoted to prayer, simplicity, and a deep love of God.

Bernard believed that our spiritual lives, like a garden, need to be tended and nourished. His example reminds us to make room for God, allowing faith to take root and grow within us.

“You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”
— Isaiah 58:11

May we seek to be well-watered gardens today—rooted in God’s love and bringing that love to others. 🌿🙏
