In 1997 a group of churches in northeast Ohio were called together by NOAH (Northeast Ohio Association of Helpers) to consider planting a new church in Youngstown, Ohio. There was great enthusiasm as representatives of six congregations came together in prayer and conversation. While the need for a new church was great, the door did not open and the process of planting a church was delayed. On May
11, 2014, God opened the door for Pastor Len Derico to host a group of believers in his home for worship, study and fellowship. The intent of these believers was to become disciples who make disciples, and the result of their meeting was the formation of the core group of Valley Christian Church (VCC). This core group began worshiping together in Youngstown on January 11, 2015 and they remained committed to planting a church with the mission of Loving God... Loving Others... And Making Disciples. This ever-growing desire is the mission that serves as a compass as VCC moves forward to fulfill God's purpose in Youngstown. On June 26, 2016, Pastor Jeff Swain and his family joined the VCC plant team to help lead the core group to accomplish it's mission. At that time Valley Christian Church currently met in an office complex at 5500 Market Street, Youngstown (but continued to search for a more permanent place of worship). On September 9, 2018, Valley Christian Church officially launched at our current location, 7155 Glenwood Ave, Boardman.
