WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TO?
We all make choices every day. Some of them bigger and some of them smaller. One of the biggest choices we make each day is what voice we’re going to listen to. We have plenty of voices in our lives. They can range from your own, to a spouse, a friend, a family member, someone you just met, our adversary, or the Lord.
Sometimes the hardest part is understanding who is speaking. It’s not too difficult if they’re standing in front of you speaking, but the voices in our head often carry more weight. And no, I’m not talking about anything weird. I’m talking about the fact that we can receive our thoughts from essentially three places: ourselves, the Lord, or the enemy. The question is: who are you listening to? It truly does matter because depending on how you answer that question will determine what you believe and therefore how you live.
This clip is from our Sunday morning service where we had an incredible moment with filled altars when our worship leader, Ashley Miller encouraged us to step out and not worry what anyone else thought about us in that moment. There’s so much truth to what she said. “You know what? His opinion of us is so much more important than what the person on your left or right, or at home, or whoever (thinks). It’s so much more important than that.”
I want to encourage you today, understand that the Lord’s opinion of you is more important than anyone else’s opinion of you. He created you, He loves you, He wants the best for you, and He will never leave or forsake you. He knows the number of hairs on your head because He cares about you, and He would love a relationship with you if you don’t already have one.
If you can grab ahold of His opinion of you and let that become what you believe, and therefore how you live, you’ll start living a life closer to the one you’ve always wanted because He’s placed that in you too. I pray that God would help you to understand His opinion of you today, that it would set you free from years of misunderstanding, and that you’ll step into exactly who He’s made you to be. And if you’re already doing well with this, then I pray He would deepen your understanding in these areas.
