2026 Shoeboxes have Arrived
Last year we collected 83 boxes. Our 2026 goal is 84 boxes...because
every 1 counts! Please help by prayerfully filling a shoebox for a girl or
boy in age groups 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14 years; with a "WOW" item, art/school
supplies, and personal hygiene items; but NO soap & NO toothpaste,No
liquids, candy, or gum. You will find a brochure at the Gathering Room
display; this includes a label to affix to box denoting age/gender; and all the
information you will need. Remember to include $10 for international
shipping (cash or checks payable to Good Hope with OCC written in the
memo line), OR you can choose to pay for shipping on someone else's box.
National Collection Week is Sunday Nov 15th-Sunday Nov.22nd.
Before distribution, a children's Gospel in the child's own language;
is added to every gift-filled shoebox, making each box a powerful tool for
Evangelism. This is Good Hope's 12th year of participation in the global
outreach of Samaritan's Purse.

That means I have to be much more selective about what I share. Streaming links, articles, websites, resources, announcements, and other content that directs you away from Facebook may become a little harder to post.

So, what does this mean for you?

PRAYERS AND SUPPORT NEEDED!
Gareth and Jillian Lizotte Hyder joyfully welcomed their newborn son, Waylon Layne Hyder, on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Waylon weighed in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces and measured 20.5 inches long. Jillian and Gareth were anxious to introduce him to his big brother, 16-month-old, Michael Lee Hyder (Mickey). This meeting has been on hold due to unforeseen circumstances.
Immediately upon Waylon’s arrival, large blisters were noticed on his fingers, and a split in his skin was visible on his side. What began as a joyful day quickly became a time of concern and uncertainty for his family.
Shortly after his bonding time with his parents, Waylon was taken for his newborn testing and clean up. Thirty minutes later the medical team informed Jillian and Gareth that they had taken Waylon to the NICU so they could address “many concerns” regarding his skin. Four days later, he was flown to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for specialized care as his family began confronting what has been called “the worst disease you’ve never heard of.” This precious baby has been diagnosed with JEB – Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa, a major form of epidermolysis bullosa. This is an incurable, genetic disease that causes the skin to be very fragile and to blister easily. Blisters and areas of skin loss (erosions) form in response to minor injury or friction. Children with this disease are known as butterfly children due to the fragility of their skin like butterfly wings.

November 1st is All Saints Sunday, a time for us to remember all the saints who have passed on before us, especially Good Hope members and their loved ones who have died within the last year.
Please call the church office or send an email to Pastor Bob to give us the name or names of those you would like to remember. We ask that you provide these names by October 19th to ensure we have all the information together.
We invite you, or a representative from your family, to come and light a candle of remembrance for the life of your loved one during the opening song or hymn. There will also be a time, in the prayers, when each of our loved ones who has gone to be with the Lord will be remembered by name.
