This morning, we all gathered and waved palms as it's Palm Sunday. But as our guest preacher, the Rev. Dr. Jack Heinsohn, noted there's a death coming at the end of Holy Week, to be followed by Jesus's victorious, glorious resurrection on Easter. We'll observe Jesus's last days with a Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 on April 2 and rejoice in his resurrection with Easter services at 7 and 10:30 AM on April 4. As always, you are welcome to join us!

It's Souper Bowl time! Tomorrow, New Kirk continues its long tradition of tackling hunger in the annual Souper Bowl of Caring event. Vote for your favorite team by dropping monetary donations or nonperishable food items in these labeled soup pots. The team with the most donations wins, but the real winners will be the Christian Assistance Bridge and all our neighbors they help. See you this Sunday at New Kirk!

It’s snowing in the ‘Wood today, and we’re expecting 4-6 inches on the ground and extremely cold temperatures in Blythewood by Sunday morning. To keep our church family safe, Session and Pastor Larry have decided to cancel worship, the Session meeting, and the usual activities this Sunday, February 1. Stay warm, enjoy the snow, and we’ll see you next Sunday at New Kirk!

Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his unwavering faith in God, Who calls us to love boldly, seek justice and walk humbly. May we live out that calling with courage and compassion. 🤍

Thank you to Rev. Joey Byrd for being our guest preacher today and worshipping the Lord with us this morning! The takeaways from his "New Year's Message" to us from Acts 10:34-43 were two-fold: Ask for and participate in God's healing power in our lives, and faithfully serve the Lord by doing good to, for, and with our community. We'll see you next Sunday at New Kirk!

Please feel free to come and visit us tomorrow at New Kirk Presbyterian Church, 187 Langford Road, Blythewood. We are a small but meaningful gathering. I am excited to get to guest preach tomorrow and we will be examining Matthew 2:1-23. This is part of the nativity narrative, but we will be diving in to a pertinent, but less favorite character, Herod.

My query will be isn’t there a Herod in all of us? Come and let’s explore together and may you genuinely leave with more questions than answers so that you might seek and explore how God wants to work in YOUR life.

It is all about the questions-the mystery of God lies in His answers for each of us.

See you tomorrow at 1030! Come early and have coffee and goodies with us!

In His Love,
Alison Eaker
