The Seventh-day Adventist Church seeks to enhance quality of life for people everywhere and to let people know that J

esus is coming again soon. Adventists believe a Trinity of three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—make up one God. They made salvation possible when Jesus, the Son, came to earth as a baby in Bethlehem and lived a sinless life in accordance with the Father's will. When Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world and arose from the dead on the third day, victory was won for everyone. When He returned to heaven following the resurrection, Jesus left the Holy Spirit to serve as our Comforter and Counselor. He promised to return to earth a second time to complete His plan of salvation and take His people to heaven. Adventists are among the believers who look forward to that day. Adventists believe that God is concerned with the quality of human life, and that everything—the way we live, eat, speak, think, treat each other, and care for the world around us—is part of His plan. Our families, our children, our jobs, our talents, our money, and our time are all important to Him.

*Faithful in Our Labor*

Labor Day is a time to recognize the value of work and to appreciate the many hands that serve, build, teach, care, grow, repair, and provide.

High in the mountains lives a tiny mammal called the pika. During the warmer months, pikas are busy gathering grasses, leaves, and wildflowers. They carry them back to rocky places where they carefully store them for the colder days ahead. Their work isn't flashy, but it is steady, purposeful, and important.

Much of our work is like that.

The everyday things we do may not seem extraordinary—going to our jobs, caring for our homes, raising children, helping a neighbor, preparing a meal, or serving quietly where we're needed. Yet God doesn't measure the importance of our work by how impressive it looks to others. He values faithfulness.

This Labor Day, may we be thankful for the ability to work, grateful for those whose labor blesses us, and mindful that whatever task God places before us can be done for His glory.

And after the work is finished, remember that God also gives us permission to rest. There is blessing in faithful labor—and blessing in laying our work aside and trusting Him.

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” — Colossians 3:23 NKJV

*Prayer:*
Lord, thank You for the work You have given us and for all those whose labor blesses our lives. Help us to be faithful even in the small and unnoticed things. May our hands serve others and our lives honor You. And teach us to rest when the work is done. Amen.
