SATURDAY—IN THE PSALMS

Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Kings 17-19

Saturday, June 20

Psa. 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

My Gracious and Mighty God:
Patient waiting on you was a special characteristic of your Son. Impatience never lived in his heart, or escaped his lips. All through his agony in Gethsemane, beatings at Gabbatha, and passion on Golgatha, he waited on you in the power of patience. No glare of anger. No word of complaint. No act of vengeance came from the Lamb of God. He was patient to perfection.
The biblical character Job – meek in his in dust and ashes – does not equal Jesus on the cross. Christ wears the crown when it comes to patience. He is the man! That means it is impossible for me to wait on you in vain. Jesus received your help through the same process of faith and prayer that I have to use. He teaches me how to conduct my conflicts so that I can succeed in the same way, and triumph in his strength over all affliction and persecution and trial.
Psa. 40:8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
Faith is what wins the promises. Give me a simple, single-eyed confidence in your true words. I can be as poor as Lazarus, as hated as Mordecai, as sick as Hezekiah, or as lonely as Elijah – but as long as my hand of faith holds you, none of my outward problems, predicaments, or problematic people can prevent my being numbered with the blessed. Yet the wealthiest who have no faith are cursed.
Here is the essence of obedience: my soul’s cheerful adoration of you! Jesus’ obedience is my righteousness. So let me be obedient in him today. Then – in spite of measureless grief – I will joy in the Lord and rejoice in all your works, even in the “rough providences” of life. Make me like Jesus in this, so that everyone who sees me this summer will know I am his disciple! Amen.

🍀 One more prayer focus before VBS begins!

As we put the finishing touches on Emerald Crossing, pray that every detail would come together according to God's plan and for His glory. Pray that schedules, supplies, weather, technology, decorations, and every unseen detail would help create an environment where the Gospel is clearly shared.

Most of all, pray that God would do far more than we could ask or imagine this week. 💚🇮🇪🐑

Today is Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the news of freedom finally reaching the last enslaved people in the United States.

As we approach our nation's 250th anniversary, we're thankful for the many freedoms we enjoy. Around the world, countless people live without the liberty to worship freely, gather openly, or share their faith without consequence. Yet these freedoms can become so familiar that we forget what a gift they truly are.

So today, consider this question: What are we doing with the freedoms we've been given?

May we use them well—to worship boldly, serve faithfully, and share Jesus Christ while we still can.

"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." — John 8:36

⁉️ Have you experienced true freedom? If not, we'd love to share it with you.

FRIDAY— CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY

Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Kings 16; 2 Chronicles 17

Friday, June 19

Isa. 30:15 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength:

Oh Lord, Great and Mighty:
Why are we always worrying and fretting, questioning and mistrusting? We have a real weakness in that area – because it adds nothing to our planning, and it grieves the Spirit. So we gain nothing by fearing and fuming – nothing except making ourselves unfit for action. Nothing except unhinging our soberness from sound decisions. Why should we sink because of our struggles, when we can fulfill God’s purpose for our soul in his eternity by endurance in faith and trust the word?
Lord, give us grace to be quiet, 1 Thes. 4:11! Do not let us go from one person to another, repeating the same sad song. It only makes us more heartsick the more we sing it. Instead, give us this goal – that we will eliminate complaint and murmuring, and so prepare the way for the Spirit to work revival in the Bible. How much time we waste crying in agony, because of a foreboding that never comes, a thing that never happens, and a bad prospect that is never fulfilled? It is good to have a quiet tongue, and better to keep a quiet heart! So let us,
Psa. 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God:
Give us more grace to be confident in you! Restore our courage, Lord. You always deliver your own. You cannot run away from a fight if it involves defending your church or your children. Even if the mountains flee, your word stands – so you deserve to be confided in. You are our “safe place.” Help us display that confidence and its consequent quietness in our lives.
John 13:23 Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
Lord, make us that disciple today! Help us return to our rest. Amen.

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING

Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Kings 15; 2 Chronicles 13-16

Thursday, June 18

Rev. 16:1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.

GOD is fighting for us, God is on our side
He has overcome, yes He has overcome
We will not be shaken, We will not be moved
Jesus You are here

Carrying our burdens, covering our shame
He has overcome, yes He has overcome
We will not be shaken, we will not be moved
Jesus You are here

I will live, I will not die; the resurrection power of Christ
Alive in me and I am free, in Jesus’ Name
I will live, I will not die; I will declare and lift You high,
Christ revealed and I am healed, in Jesus’ Name

God is fighting for us, pushing back the darkness
Lighting up the Kingdom that cannot be shaken
In the Name of Jesus, enemy’s defeated
And we will shout it out

🍀 Emerald Crossing VBS begins Monday!

Today, will you pray for the children who will walk through our doors? Pray that hearts would be open to God's Word, that seeds of truth would be planted, and that many boys and girls would trust Jesus Christ as their Savior.

WEDNESDAY—REVIVAL PRAYING

Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Kings 13-14; 2 Chronicles 11-12

Wednesday, June 17

Zech. 14:7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.

Glorious God and Heavenly Father:
You work in a way that is above my fears, and even beyond my hopes. So turn now the dark night of doubt in which I live, into bright light around me. My heart often prophesies that the darkness will deepen into midnight. Make it not so. Give me your grace to live with higher expectations. Do not let anything hinder the momentum of your Spirit, or grieve and chase him away!
And help me keep others out of despair today also. You turn even the darkness of the shadow of death into morning – so I must trust in you. It is only after the order for bricks is bitter (Exod. 5) that you show up to deliver (Exod. 7). It is when my tribulation is closest to overflowing that it is closest to ending.
Let me use this promise to help my patience! The light may not come until my hope gets drained-off by waiting all day to no advantage. For the wicked, the sun goes down while it is yet day. But for the righteous the day dawns when it is almost night. Help me wait with patience for the light from revival in the Bible. It is in your light that I shall see light, Psa. 36:9; 119:130. And then let me,
John 9:4 …work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
So your light is always worth waiting for! Give to me, my pastors, those in my church, and our missionaries abroad, the light to serve you in faith another day. I know I can thank you and praise you in advance for that, because you promise to bless me in a way that surpasses anything nature has seen at her best.
Encourage others as you deliver me from sadness, and do this all to your own glory and praise. For it is in Jesus’ name I ask it all. Amen.
