Pete Enns has a way of saying things that speak to our experiences, even if our experiences might be a bit different.

I love that he never gave up on the Church, God’s presence & purpose. Rather he searched and sought for what would cause him personal enrichment & increase and continued to engage God’s work. If only all who dare call themselves by Christ’s name would do the work of seeking and searching all the while staying healthily engaged with the Church.

Just as it is with self, developing and fostering an ethos of authenticity rather than the imposed “self-confident” attitude takes work. Going from a “managing”, “fake-it-to-make-it” environment, to an understanding, willigness to explore environment, is something many rebel against.

I totally agree that Church must be “a safe place” in working out the complexities of faith, alllowing faith to be more complicated, more participatory, more mystical than mental assent and intellectual certainty. We must discern what does it truly mean to “catch glimpses and experience the ever-present God”, i.e., “an atmosphere or divine awareness into the mystery we call God”.
