GYC West is an organization of SDA youth and young adults in the western United States. We believe that the Lord is forming His army of workers in these last days and our prayer is that GYC West would be a vessel through which Jesus Christ can reveal His will.

We are thankful for all of you that came out this weekend. We hope you were all blessed by this year’s retreat!

We are also extremely grateful for all those who helped, volunteers, donors and most of all, God who makes this possible. Thank you to our speakers for the powerful message they presented related to our theme this year, “Unshaken” and all the questions they were able to answer and discuss during our Q/A. Each year GYC West hosts a young adult retreat to gain strength in the faith, network safely with like-minded believers, and seek a closer communion with our Father. For 2025 the theme will be “Unshaken.” Join us in coming away from your work and routines and seek revival together in nature. Our speakers are Gleny Cherian and Shay Capolupo. They will each be providing a unique perspective on the trials a Christian faces and whether they can strengthen or weaken our faith. There will be various outdoor activities, powerful messages, and time to disconnect in nature and reconnect with God. We hope to see you there!

Happy 4th of July!

We hope you are able to spend some time with your loved ones this weekend and remember the liberty and freedom we are able to enjoy in this country by God’s grace. We also have some exciting news for this year’s theme Bible verse!

In line with our theme for this year’s retreat, “Unshaken”, Psalm 55:22 holds a strong relevance to the Christian walk and the trials that may come our way. “Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.”

We would now like to introduce the 2nd speaker for this years retreat!

Gleny Jigi Cherian, AMFT, APCC is a mental health therapist and assistant professor of Psychology at Weimar University. She holds a Master’s in Counseling Psychology and Wellness and finds joy in guiding individuals toward emotional well-being through the perspective of the great controversy and the Adventist message. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Psychology, Gleny occasionally contributes to the Nedley Depression and Anxiety Recovery Program, enjoys making music, volunteering with the youth, and finding humor in balancing work, study, and play.

We would like to introduce one of our main speakers for this years retreat!

Shay was raised Christian but fell away from the faith as a teenager. As a young adult his pursuit of a worldly career in music, along with drugs and alcohol, pulled him further and further away from God until he hit an all time low in 2017 and turned to the Lord with a heart of repentance. God granted him victory over drugs and alcohol and called him to the gospel ministry. He received formal training at the Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism in 2021. Since graduating he has preached at numerous churches throughout California and has conducted evangelistic seminars in the U.S. and Guatemala. He was also active in planting a church under the Southern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and serves there as a lay pastor. Having obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degree in music, Shay now uses his education to glorify God. He writes, records, and performs original scripture songs as well as classic hymns. At the center of all that he does is the blessed Lord Jesus, His matchless love, and a desire to win souls for His glory. He co-founded The Bridegroom Cometh and currently serves as Speaker & President.
