This Shabbat, we’re celebrating the power of music to bring us together. But at Temple Sholom, we also believe that the spirit of Shabbat extends far beyond our sanctuary.

This week, our community came together to put that spirit into action.

In response to the needs of Haitian immigrant families in Springfield, Ohio, Temple Sholom organized a food drive that resulted in more than one ton of food, enough to create more than 50 food boxes for families in need.

And it didn’t stop with collecting donations. A dedicated group of Temple Sholom volunteers packed the boxes, loaded them up, and drove to Springfield.

That is Shabbat.

It is gathering together.
It is sharing what we have.
It is lifting up those who need a hand.
It is turning our values into action.

And just as music brings voices together in harmony, acts of kindness bring communities together in hope.

This Music Shabbat, we celebrate not only the songs we sing, but the mitzvot we live.

May our music inspire us. May our actions speak. And may our Shabbat continue to bring more light into the world.

Help Us Provide Emergency Support to Haitian Immigrant Families ❤️

We are already seeing the generosity of our Temple Sholom community in action! Food items are already coming in, and we are so grateful to everyone who has begun contributing. Now, we need your help to keep the momentum going! 🙌

Temple Sholom is coming together to support Haitian immigrant families in Springfield, Ohio, and we invite you to be part of this important effort.

📦 On Wednesday, September 2 at 1:00 PM, we will gather at Temple Sholom to assemble food boxes filled with essential items for families who need our help.

There are several ways you can make a difference:

🥫 Donate food items to help fill the boxes.

🛒 Purchase items in bulk to help us provide even more support.

💙 Make a financial contribution. Approximately $50 provides the food needed for one complete box.

Join us at 5:30 PM for pizza and community as we gather together in the Sukkah! Then, stay for our outdoor Sukkot Shabbat Service at 6:30 PM as we celebrate the season together under the open sky.

🚌 Fill the Bus This Yom Kippur

During this sacred season of reflection, repentance, and renewal, we are called to put our Jewish values into action by caring for those in need.

This Yom Kippur, Temple Sholom is proud to support Princeton Closet, a nonprofit serving families throughout the Princeton City School District with food, clothing, school supplies, personal care items, and emergency assistance.

Our goal is simple: FILL THE BUS! 🚌

You can help by donating items before Yom Kippur at Temple Sholom. All donations collected at the Temple will be delivered to Weil Kahn before Yom Kippur.

If you attend Yom Kippur services at Weil Kahn, you can also bring your donations directly to the collection bus, which will be on-site throughout the day. All donations will be loaded onto the bus that afternoon.

Items especially needed include:

📚 School Supplies
• Single-subject notebooks
• Pencils
• Crayons
• Plastic pocket folders
• Dry-erase markers

🧴 Personal Care Items
• Toothpaste & toothbrushes
• Shampoo & conditioner
• Diapers & wipes
• New socks & underwear

🥫 Food Pantry Items
• Peanut butter & jelly
• Pasta & pasta sauce
• Macaroni & cheese
• Cereal
• Applesauce & crackers
• Soups and other non-perishable foods

👕 Clothing & Shoes
• New or gently used clothing
• New or gently used coats
• New or gently used shoes

💙 Monetary donations are also welcome and help Princeton Closet respond to the greatest needs of the families they serve.

As we reflect and seek to better ourselves during these Days of Awe, may we also uplift our neighbors through generosity, compassion, and action.
