HACKETTSTOWN, NJ Joseph L. "Joe" Zinkann, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, surrounded by his family. Formerly from Union Township, NJ and currently at Heath Village in Hackettstown, NJ. Joe was born August 15, 1931, in Chicago, IL, to the late Joseph Leo Zinkann and the late Agnes (nee Horan) Zinkann. Joe was a graduate of Wright Junior College in Chicago, IL and was drafted into the United States Army in 1952. Joe learned how to repair office machines while he was in the Army which he turned into a career following his service. Later he married the love of his life, Mary McKeown on February 16, 1963. A devout Catholic, Joe and his beloved wife Mary were long time members of their parish, The Church of Annunciation in Bloomsbury, NJ where he was also a member of the Holy Name Society. Growing up in Chicago, Joe was a diehard Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed watching games growing up from his favorite spot in the bleachers at Wrigley Field. Joe also liked a good game of golf, tackling a challenging puzzle, reading a good book, gardening, and having a pint of Guinness with family and friends. But his favorite thing of all was spending time with his precious family. Joe will be remembered for being a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Joe will be forever missed by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary (nee McKeown) Zinkann; son, Joseph Zinkann and his wife Amy of Groton, MA; daughter, Beth Billington and her husband Ed of Clinton, NJ; son, Stephen Zinkann and his wife Kirsten of Greenville, SC; daughter, Sue Krauer and her husband Greg of Hackettstown, NJ; grandchildren, Kelly Dickson and her husband Cole, Shannon Billington, Erin Billington, Joseph Zinkann, William Zinkann, Hope Zinkann, Harrison Zinkann, Lily Krauer, and Norah Krauer; dear brother of the late Jeanne (Bill) Evans and the late Carole (Ron) Roth; brother-in-law of late Edward (Marilyn) McKeown, dear sister-in-law, Ruth Anne McKeown of Manhattan, NY; uncle of many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Friends and relatives are invited to greet the family on Saturday, March 12th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Church of the Annunciation, 80 Main Street, Bloomsbury, NJ 08804. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:00 pm in the church. Interment will be held privately. Arrangements are under the care of Martin Funeral Home, Clinton NJ.
