Throughout the year, in addition to our regular services, we set aside additional time to spend together as a community. We celebrate the Feast Day of Holy Apostles with a cookout in the summer, during the Lenten season we gather and deliver food to local food pantries and we organize outings to various local and regional events. Please visit Holy Apostles’ Hall of Doors Orthodox Library, located in the Parish house, where members and visitors alike will find wonderful books to read and check out. Each month, our community recommends a book to read and we encourage all to borrow books so we may continue to learn and grow in our faith. We also have brochures and pamphlets that can be taken and kept for reference. Donations of Orthodox books are always welcomed, please contact or visit us for more information.

We give thanks to God! After months of construction, the new expanded sanctuary has been completed with the old iconostasis temporarily put back in place until the new one arrives summer of 2026. What a transformation so far from when we first arrived in 2019 to the new church building.

This is how we roll during a Sunday fellowship hour under the carport in scenic corn country and beautiful late-summer weather. We give thanks to God for His bounty! Our wonderful weekly potluck meals provide a respite for everyone. Young families can go away full to enjoy afternoons together as a family unit. College students get a home cooked meal, often with familiar ethnic dishes. We can spend time getting to know visitors. Adult singles and elderly often enjoy the social part of the meal that might be lacking for them otherwise during the week. It's a beautiful tradition that we share coming together as a spiritual family, nourishing our souls and bodies, and a labor of love for the dedicated individuals that faithfully prepare and participate in the weekly serving of these meals.

And so it has begun. Many thanks to those who stayed after this morning's Liturgy to help move the Sanctuary to its temporary location in anticipation of the renovation and expansion to begin July 14. Please keep this project in your prayers as we continue to give Glory to God and be a witness to Orthodoxy in McLean County.

We were blessed to have visiting priests, Fr. John Brown GOC and Fr. James Ellison AOC, serve along with Fr. David during Divine Liturgy this morning. There were close to 100 faithful in attendance and we celebrated afterwards a day early for our patronal feast day with a delicious meal along with outside children's activities.
