Meet Alex. Alex started receiving services at Wheeler Mission-Bloomington at the beginning of July. Very open and willing to share his success story and what led him here, Alex battled alcohol off and on for years. It finally took a toll on his marriage, and his wife urged him to leave and figure things out. That brought Alex to our Westplex shelter. As he began to sober up and consider the consequences of his choices, the process highlighted what was truly important in life.

Alex put down the bottle and began to work on himself. He successfully sought employment, and with the hard work and long hours of double shifts, Alex moved into his own apartment at the end of July. Alex is slowly rebuilding his relationships, and we're cheering him on.

Alex had the grit to not give up in the midst of setbacks. We're honored to be even a small part of the journey.

Sometimes the most impactful donations are the items many of us use every day without a second thought.

A clean shirt for a job interview. A backpack to carry personal belongings. A pair of shoes that fits. Fresh socks and deodorant to begin the day with confidence.

This month, Wheeler Mission Bloomington's greatest needs are:

• Men's deodorant (CRITICAL NEED)
• Men's jeans (sizes 30-44)
• Men's belts (sizes 30-44)
• New men's underwear (all sizes)
• Men's socks
• Men's T-shirts (all sizes)
• Backpacks

Sometimes small things make a big impact! Wheeler Mission - Bloomington currently has a critical need for men's deodorant. While that may seem like a small thing, it's a big part of ensuring dignity and confidence for our guests. If you can help us restock by purchasing an extra stick or two of deodorant next time you're buying toiletries, it would be an incredible help.

Donations can be dropped off in person at 215 S. Westplex Ave. or even ordered and shipped right here to the shelter. The shipping address is 215 S. Westplex Ave., Bloomington, IN 47404! Or if you have a group and would like to set up an in-kind collection and make a big difference together, message us and we can figure out details.

Yesterday was moving day! 🎉

Our team officially moved into our newly renovated Welcome Center, and we’re excited to begin welcoming guests into this new space.

More than just a new office, the Welcome Center is a place where people can take that first step toward help, hope, and healing. We’re grateful for everyone who helped make this renovation possible.
