A couple more posts on yard card explorations in the states surrounding Illinois and further!

Today I looked north of us. I am avoiding franchises, and in some places, that seems to be all there is. But I found a few independent businesses in Wisconsin. Their yard card pricing starts at $75 for a "mini birthday" set up, but if you want something other than birthdays, it goes up. The price seems somewhat comparable but definitely more for less if you look at what I do. I noticed that they use their website through Square, the same business platform I use, so I am interested in looking into that.

One thing they do that I am excited to read more on is fundraising! Essentially, the group receives a special code and whoever uses that code within a certain amount of time gets a cut of the yard card price. I have been wanting to do this, especially with schools, for sometime but, you know, procrastination. But seeing this yard card company doing it puts that fire under me to go on and get this idea into action!

The yard card business I researched is in the St Louis and surrounding areas. It makes sense to me that they would charge more money every five miles or so (see attached of their pricing), simply because that area is more densely populated than Bloomington is. Their starting price is $90 and goes up to $140, and that is just if you live within 5 miles of them. I like their layered look and like how it builds up, but I do sometimes feel like it’s just a giant wall of plastic 😆. I am curious to know what makes their signs standard vs deluxe and super, and when I redo my website and do an overhaul this summer, I will make sure to include those kinds of details.
