About Lori:
“I was a runner for 25 years and did yoga as a cross training exercise. I did much of my practice on my own, as I found that I never felt comfortable in a yoga class. I did not feel I could connect with many of the members who were living a yogi lifestyle and chanting to get centered at the end of class. This went on for a number of years, but I kept practicing as I felt the actual exe
rcise was extremely beneficial to me as a runner and as a person with an anxiety disorder. A few years ago, I had to give up running due to a knee injury. I felt it was time to really get serious about yoga (it was the only other exercise, aside from running, that I loved). I decided to become certified as a yoga teacher. However, during the initial certification process, I was asked to read a number of books on yoga philosophy, lifestyle, and study the background and “roots” of this ancient practice. Suddenly I knew why, for all of these years, I felt a soul disconnect when I practiced yoga. Traditional yoga practice, in its purity, asks you to join your soul, body, and being to another god-- yourself, the god within someone else, the sun, the earth. But my body, mind, and soul belonged to Jesus, I felt I had to find another mind/body exercise that I could combine my faith and love for my Creator with physical movement, so I became a Certified Wholyfit Instructor in Jan. 2010. Welcome to Wholyfit.
