Men in the Diocese of Madison are invited to this year's Men of Christ Madison Conference on Saturday, October 24 at St. Albert the Great Church in Sun Prairie! This year's conference looks to the example of St. Francis of Assisi, who died 800 years ago this year and received the command from Jesus Christ to "Rebuild My Church." This invitation wasn't just for St. Francis; all men are called to build up the Church, the Body of Christ, by growing in their relationship with the Lord and in their vocation as men. Whether you are seeking spiritual renewal, stronger Catholic brotherhood, or practical encouragement in your journey of discipleship, this conference is for you. The day includes Mass with Bishop Hying, inspiring presentations, and opportunities for Confession and prayer.

This is a ticketed event; learn more and purchase your tickets at menofchristmadison.com.

Saint Augustine’s conversion is one of the most powerful stories in Church history. 🙏

For years, he chased ambition, pleasure, and worldly success while resisting the faith of his mother, St. Monica.

Then, after years of her prayers and his own restless searching, Augustine heard a childlike voice say, “Take up and read.” He opened Scripture, encountered Romans 13, and his life changed.

He was baptized by St. Ambrose in 387 and went on to become a bishop, Doctor of the Church, and one of Christianity’s greatest theologians.

As Augustine famously wrote: “Our hearts are restless until they rest in You.”

Yesterday we observed the Memorial of St. Monica, and today we remember her most well-known son, St. Augustine! Augustine's relentless hunger for meaning and happiness led him down many paths, but it was his mother's tears, prayers, and persistence over decades that finally brought him to the realization that only God could satisfy his restless heart. His writings and teachings have placed him in the rank of the four Latin Church Fathers (along with Gregory the Great, Jerome, and Ambrose).

We pray today for our St. Augustine University Parish in Platteville today, especially as they prepare for the new school year! St. Augustine, pray for us!

Feast Day Prayer to St. Monica

O blessed Saint Monica, faithful mother and woman of prayer,
pray for us and for our families.
Help us remain patient in times of trial,
steadfast when our prayers seem unanswered,
and hopeful in God's mercy.

Intercede especially for our children and loved ones,
that they may return to God and walk always in His ways.

Saint Monica, teach us never to give up praying
and to trust God's perfect timing. Amen.

Saint Monica, pray for us!

Today is the feast day of Saint Monica, patron saint of mothers, wives, and difficult marriages. 🙏

Saint Monica knew the pain of a troubled marriage and a divided home. Her husband, Patricius, was known for his temper and infidelity, yet Monica remained steadfast in prayer, patience, and faith. Before his death, he converted to Christianity.

She also prayed for years for the conversion of her son, Saint Augustine, who would become one of the greatest saints and Doctors of the Church.

If your marriage is struggling, or someone you love has fallen away from the Faith, ask Saint Monica to intercede.

Saint Monica, pray for our marriages, our children, and our families.
