ENCOUNTER 🌟

Say hi to Dan at the Fish Fry! 🐟

Year and Major: Junior studying Management

Favorite Hobby: running

Favorite Saint: St. Maximilian Kolbe

Favorite St.Paul’s Event (Fish Fry)
Returning to my Catholic faith in February 2025, the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry was one of the first major events that showed me the true heart of this community. That first year, I was just another Knight working hard behind the scenes, serving food and trying to bring a bit of positivity to everyone I met. However, as I stepped into leadership roles throughout this year, the Fish Fry became a priority for me. It was the event that truly made me fall in love with St. Paul’s. My favorite part of the planning process has been the transition from doing the work to guiding the vision; watching younger Knights flourish in their own talents and helping our council put its best foot forward has been incredibly rewarding.

How are you involved with K of C?
I currently serve as the Grand Knight for our council, a role that has pushed me to grow in ways I never expected. My involvement is a mix of high-energy logistics and deep spiritual commitment from organizing football parking and helping lead our Eucharistic Procession to spearheading our “Aid and Support after Pregnancy” (ASAP) initiative, where our council currently ranks second in the nation for fundraising. I focus heavily on effective delegation and mentorship, always striving to find the right person for every job. To me, being a Knight means being a servant leader: someone who is willing to be the first one in the trenches with the team, no matter how messy or difficult the work might be.

How has the Knights of Columbus shaped your life?
The Knights of Columbus provided me with a sense of purpose and a community of brothers that keeps me grounded. My journey from a newcomer to Grand Knight taught me that leadership isn’t about having all the answers or giving the perfect speech; it’s about having the heart to serve and the humility to rely on others. ENCOUNTER 🌟

Say hey to Matt!

Year and Major: Senior studying Accounting & Professional Sales

Fraternity: Delta Tau Delta

Favorite Hobbies: Sports & Fitness - I love lifting, running, being outdoors, and living a healthy lifestyle; it helps me reset and stay consistent.

St. Paul’s Impact: The Hoosier Catholic community has kept me grounded at IU. Through participating in the Hoosier Awakening retreat and attending Sunday suppers, I’ve found a great sense of community outside of my house which has really pushed me to grow in my faith.

Living Out My Faith Within Greek Life:
In Greek life, you’re surrounded by so many like-minded people, but very few Christ-minded people. It’s so easy to fall into the cycle of living a double life. You kill it all week and then make choices on the weekend that undo that progress. What has helped me is developing a support network within my house, where we’ve been able to hold weekly Bible study, attend Mass
together, and hold each other accountable, while still enjoying everything Greek life has to offer.

Greek Events/Mass at Delts: Through my involvement in Hoosier Catholic Greek, I’ve been blessed to help organize 2 Masses at Delts where over 100 members of the Greek community attended. It’s been awesome to see so many students come together with different letters, but united in faith. The more I’ve recognized God’s plan for my life, the more He’s blessed both me and my chapter.

“We are extremely pleased to announce we have reached our Capital Campaign goal of $5,000,000. Praise be to God for providing such a blessing! Thank you so much for your support in making this renovation possible!

Even though we have reached our goal, we are continuing to raise money for the campaign, as the construction estimates from two years ago have changed. Additional gifts will allow us to maximize the impact of this renovation.”
