Some encouragement to any families who are struggling

It can feel like your marriage is just the two of you. Same kitchen, same arguments, same Tuesday night routine. Easy to believe that what happens between you only affects you.

Jordan Peterson recently put it this way: “It’s not just a metaphor that marriage is the bedrock of society. It’s actually the bedrock of society.” He’s right, and Scripture said it first. Before God established government, before the church was born, He built marriage. Genesis 2 shows us the first institution in human history was a husband and a wife in covenant. Everything else God would later build was placed on top of that foundation.

Our team has counseled thousands of couples, and we’ve watched what happens when a marriage heals. Children relax. Friendships deepen. Churches grow stronger. The ripple goes further than anyone expects, because God designed it to. Your covenant was never meant to bless only you. It was built to be load-bearing.

That truth cuts two ways. It means the fight for your marriage matters more than you know. And it means the weight you feel some days is real, because you are carrying something significant. The good news is you were never meant to carry it in your own strength. The same God who designed marriage to hold up generations holds up your marriage with His grace, one day of dependence at a time.

So pray for your marriage today like more than your happiness depends on it. Because more than your happiness does.
