Greetings, brothers and sisters!

Christ Community Church has long been known as a Receiving, Equipping, and Sending church. Little did we know that our Sending would also involve one of our pastors. John Mangrum, our beloved Senior Associate Pastor, along with his wife, Lori, have felt God calling them away from Bloomington after 30 years of ministry to our congregation. Our prayers and gratitude go with John and Lori as they have faithfully served our families over the years.

We would like to overwhelm them with encouragement as they move forward in faith, so we invite you to write a card with a note of thanks, a favorite memory, or a way in which their ministry has impacted you. If you feel led to include a monetary gift with your card, please note that such gifts should be made out directly to John or Lori, not CCC. Cards can be sent to the church (CCC, c/o Mangrum Celebration, 503 S. High St., Bloomington, IN 47401) and will need to be received by Friday, May 20th, in order to be included in our celebration of the Mangrums at church on May 22nd.

Lastly, we would also love to have pictures (printed or digital) of John and Lori with members of the church from over the years for a slide show and a photo book for the Mangrums. Photos can be emailed to Lynne Snyder at [email protected] or brought to the church office to be scanned. Thank you, beloved body of Christ!

Peace of Christ,

The CCC Congregational Care Committee

On Sunday, June 13th, ECC voted for the second time (as per Constituional requirements), to change the name of the church to Christ Community Church. We are excited about this change! At the same time, we know there is a lot of work to be done rebranding, spreading the news, explaining to the community why we made the change, etc.

For the past several years ECC has been in the process of considering a name change. We are moving forward, presenting to the congregation a proposal that would amend our constitution, renaming our church Christ Community Church. The first vote will take place May 30th, and a second vote (required if the first vote is successful) would take place two weeks after that. If you want to know more about the why and the how of this process, here are videos from the last three weeks of presentations with congregational Q&A. As a leadership, we are excited about this change and the avenues to outreach we believe it will open. We would appreciate your prayers during this time!

ECC Friends, we thought we should make you aware of a conversation we will be having regarding a potential name change for the church. We began a process almost two years ago including surveys (in-house and in the community) regarding perceptions of the label 'evangelical'. We presented these results to the church more than a year ago. Then, covid. So we are circling back and having important presentations and discussions on April 11th, 18th, and 25th at 3pm (in-person and livestreamed). We will post the video on our website and social media pages.

Hi all, I know we have alum in Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Paris, even Indianapolis ;)!
Where are you? It would be great to help people we are sending out make connections, get church recommendations, etc!

We have talked about creating an ECC Alumni Network for years. This is step one! If you were a member/regular attender of ECC in the past, we'd love it if you'd follow us and say hi. We hope this network will help people find churches when they leave Bloomington, connect with friends, and remind us how important our Receiving, Equipping, and Sending mission is.
