Wisdom protects us, guides our decisions, strengthens our lives, and helps us walk in the blessings and purposes God has for us. It brings understanding, discernment, honor, and direction. More than anything, wisdom teaches us how to live in a way that honors God.👩🏫
One of the greatest blessings of wisdom is that it can be passed from one generation to the next. We can teach our children what we have learned through God’s Word, through prayer, and through the lessons He has taught us along the way. There is no greater inheritance we can leave them than a heart that knows and follows God.
We may leave our children money, possessions, a home, or other material things, but those things can eventually fade, be lost, or disappear. What matters most is not simply what we place on our children, but what we place in them.
When we place God’s Word in their hearts, teach them to seek Him, and model a life of faith before them, we are giving them something that cannot be measured in dollars and cents. We are giving them a foundation they can carry for the rest of their lives.
Material things fade, but the wisdom of God is timeless.🤍👨👩👧👦
Our greatest legacy is not what we leave behind in our hands, but what we leave behind in the hearts of those who come after us. May we be intentional about passing on not only what we have, but what we have learned from God—so that the generations who follow us will know Him, love Him, and walk in His ways.🫂
Proverbs 4 gives us a serious warning about the company we keep.
It speaks of people whose hearts have become so consumed by wickedness that they seem unable to find satisfaction unless they are causing trouble, hurting others, or pulling someone down. Their hearts are unsettled when there is no one to envy, oppose, criticize, or attack.
God’s Word tells us to be careful around people who have made wickedness a way of life. We are not called to judge or condemn them, but we are called to guard our hearts and be wise about the influence we allow into our lives.
And sometimes, this is one of the hardest truths to accept: the people we need to guard our hearts against may be the very people closest to us.
That can be painful. We may love them, care about them, and even pray for them, while still recognizing that their influence is not healthy for our spiritual lives. Loving someone does not mean we have to participate in their negativity, bitterness, jealousy, or strife.
Instead, we can choose wisdom. We can set healthy boundaries, refuse to return hurt for hurt, and continue to pray that God will work in their hearts.
Most importantly, we should ask God to search our own hearts. It is easy to recognize wickedness in others while overlooking attitudes in ourselves that need to be surrendered to Him.🙏
May God give us the wisdom to recognize unhealthy influences, the courage to create distance when necessary, and the grace to love people without allowing their darkness to take root in our own hearts.💕
