Bonita Arlene Porter

Bonita Arlene Porter passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Monday, December 30, 2024 in Bloomington. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a young teenager, and her faith, along with her devotion to family and friends, remained central throughout her life.
Bonita attended McCalla Primary School and graduated from Bloomington High School. Her career spanned several notable companies, including RCA and Citizens Bank, and she retired from Otis Elevator. She was a dedicated member of her community, volunteering for various non-profit organizations. Bonita had a passion for Bible studies, drawing, painting, crocheting, and writing, which brought joy not only to her but also to those around her.
Bonita was the loving mother of a large family. She is survived by her children: Don, Monty, and Tom; daughters-in-law: Kris and Robbin; bonus son: Wayne Botkins; friend: Tuesday Adkins Brinson; and sister-in-law: Wilma Livingston. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Carly Carter (Dustin), Dylan Porter (Michelle), Tyler Porter (Jakki), Dalton Porter (Elisha), Lacey Porter (Zack), Ashley Buis (Shawn), Jon Porter, Gary Roberts, and Victor Roberts, along with twenty great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Clifford Earl Porter, her son Ronald Earl Porter; her brothers Wallace and Derrell Carmichael; and sister-in-law Lois Carmichael.
A service to celebrate Bonita’s life will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 1:00PM at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old St Rd 37. Visitation will also be held Sunday from 12:00PM until the time of the service at 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bonita’s memory can be made to the Bartcole Foundation, 2495 Siebolt Quarry Rd, Bedford, IN 47421, in honor of Cole Winnefeld. The foundation is dedicated to funding research for novel therapies for neuroblastoma and other pediatric cancers.
