Preparing for Another Wonderful School Year
What a wonderful way to close out another summer program at our Preschool and Childcare Center! After a summer filled with learning, laughter, friendship, exploration, and fun, our summer program has come to a close. It was filled with meaningful experiences, thoughtfully planned around engaging themed weeks, special activities, and field trips that brought learning beyond the classroom. Each week offered our children new opportunities to discover, create, explore, and make memories together. We are so grateful for the creativity, energy, and care our teachers poured into making each week special.

And while the children may be enjoying the final days of summer, our school team is not slowing down!

With the new school year beginning next week, it is truly all hands on deck as teachers and staff prepare their classrooms, organize materials, finalize curriculum, and get everything ready to welcome our students back. Even Michelle, our Facilities Manager, has been busy patching walls and helping with the many little repairs that make our classrooms feel ready and welcoming.

It is a beautiful picture of a team working together — everyone doing their part to prepare a place where our children can learn, grow, and thrive.
As part of their preparation for the year ahead, our school team will also gather with Pastor Mia J. Douglas, Founder and Principal of DCG Wellness Coaching & Soul Care, for a special presentation on “Creating a Culture of Trust,” focusing on professionalism, communication, self-management, and conflict management.

We are so grateful for this dedicated team and for all they do to make our Preschool and Childcare Center a place of warmth, learning, joy, and connection.

Next week, we welcome a new school year — and we can’t wait!

Backpack Giveaway and Blessing!
Thank you! You did it…again!

This past Sunday, we had the Backpack Giveaway. We gave many to Covenant to Care, an organization with which we are closely aligned. Those will go to foster children in the area. We also had families from across Bloomfield come and get backpacks and school supplies after service. Some will go to families from our School.

Thank you to everyone who donated backpacks, school supplies, and their time to help make this event successful.

A special thank you to everyone who lovingly worked on organizing the display of backpacks and helped to hand out supplies.

This many backpacks and school supplies is a remarkable accomplishment. You are a special group of people.

Thank you again for your support.

Investing in Our Worship Experience
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our worship services, we are making some important updates to the technology that supports our church. These improvements will help us provide a better experience both for those worshiping with us in person and for those joining us online.

A major part of this project is the updating of our computer systems to better support our live streaming ministry. As we make these changes, we are also preparing for a significant update to our sound system. While the sound system improvements have not yet taken place, the new computer technology will provide the foundation and support needed for those upgrades in the future.

Our goal is not simply to have newer or more advanced equipment. Rather, we want to make thoughtful investments in technology that will help us worship together more effectively. Better sound and improved streaming will help ensure that the worship service is clear, accessible, and enjoyable whether you are sitting in the sanctuary or participating from home.
These changes are also part of a larger technology overhaul that has included updating the computers used by our office and full-time staff. While being technologically advanced may not be something people traditionally expect from a church, technology has become an important part of how we communicate and stay connected with our congregation. In a digital age, it is important that we make good use of the tools available to us.

We are excited about what these updates will make possible and about the improvements still to come. Thank you for your patience and support as we continue this work. Our hope is that these investments will ultimately help us create a stronger worship experience and better connect our community of faith, wherever they may be.

Does your child need a backpack or school supplies? This Sunday, Aug 16th at 11:30am we are doing our annual Backpack and School Supply giveaway for children in the Bloomfield School system. You are also invited, though in no way obligated, to attend the Blessing of the Backpacks and School Supplies during our service at 10am and are welcome to bring any backpacks and children you have to receive a special blessing during that service.

Support Our 2026 School Supply Drive!
There is still a few days left to support our annual School Supply Drive! Each year, we are able to gather a substantial number of backpacks and school supplies for our neighbors and Covenant to Care as they gear up for the new school year.

Our deadline is August 13th, with the Blessing of the Backpacks taking place on August 16th. So, there’s still time to help.

Each year, we reach more and more children and families in our community. Your continued generosity empowers us to help those who need our support. Every pencil, every backpack brings us one step closer to ensuring that these young learners have the tools they need to succeed academically.

Supplies are needed for students from preschool through high school. Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to achieving great things together.

If you’d like some guidance on school supplies to donate, message us. (No Lunch Boxes Please)
