Happy Feast Day St Benedict🙏🏾 July 11

The only certain date in Benedict's life is given by a visit from the Gothic king Totila about 542. Benedict's feast day is kept by monks on March 21, the traditional day of his death, and by the Roman Catholic Church in Europe on July 11.

A few disciples followed Benedict south, where he settled on the summit of a hill rising steeply above Cassino, halfway between Rome and Naples. The district was still largely pagan, but the people were converted by his preaching. His sister Scholastica, who came to live nearby as the head of a nunnery, died shortly before her brother.

Saint Benedict, founder of the Benedictine monastery at Monte Cassino and father of Western monasticism; the Rule that he established became the norm for monastic living throughout Europe. In 1964 Pope Paul VI proclaimed him the patron saint of all Europe. Learn more about Saint Benedict in this art...

Pope Francis names 21 new cardinals, including Vatican's ambassador to US

Pope Francis on July 9 named 21 new cardinals, including the Vatican's ambassador to the U.S., Archbishop Christophe Pierre; American-born Archbishop Robert Prevost, who oversees the appointments of Catholic bishops worldwide; and the new head of the Vatican's doctrinal office, Archbishop Victor Manuel Fernández.
The pope made the announcement at the end of his weekly Sunday Angelus prayer from a window in the Apostolic Palace overlooking St. Peter's Square. Francis said he would install the new cardinals during a consistory at the Vatican on Sept. 30, saying these new cardinals represent the universality of the global church and the "inseparable link" between the pope and dioceses around the world.

This is Pope Francis’ prayer intention for July 2023.

“If you are the same at the end of Mass as you were at the beginning, something is wrong,” the pope said in a video shared by the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network on July 3.
“Let us pray that Catholics place at the center of their lives the eucharistic celebration,” he said, “which transforms human relationships and opens up an encounter with God and their brothers and sisters.”

“In the Eucharist, it is Christ who offers himself, who gives himself for us,” the pope said.

3 Brothers share the same ordination day in Croatia
The Pudar brothers are like a 21st-century version of the Three Musketeers, only they will be fighting for souls.

As parents we hope our children will grow up to be close to each other. However, three brothers from Croatia — Renato, Marko, and Robert Pudar — share not only a sibling bond, but one that ties them to their faith and their Heavenly Father.

In a very rare occurrence, the three men were all ordained on June 24 at the Holy Family Church in Solin. Renato and Marko Pudar were ordained to the priesthood, and their brother Robert was ordained to the diaconate.
Msgr. Želimir Puljić, the Apostolic Administrator of the archdiocese, presided over the ordination that saw a further four other men join the priesthood.

The Pudar brothers are like a 21st-century version of the Three Musketeers, only they will be fighting for souls. The Pudar family is definitely one filled with faith!

Happy Fourth of July...Here's some history about July 4th see below:

On July 4th, the Continental Congress formally adopted the Declaration of Independence, which had been written largely by Jefferson. Though the vote for actual independence took place on July 2nd, from then on the 4th became the day that was celebrated as the birth of American independence.

The Fourth of July—also known as Independence Day or July 4th—has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941. The tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution.
