🚨 We’re Hiring — And We’re Not Looking For Just Anyone 🚨

Let’s be real—this work isn’t easy. It’s not comfortable. And it’s definitely not for people who just want a “job.”

The Underground New England is looking for a **Community Engagement & Development Coordinator** who is ready to step into the uncomfortable, speak up, and help drive real change for survivors in our communities.

We’re looking for someone with:
❤️ A deep heart for justice and restoration
🗣️ A compassionate ear and the ability to truly listen
✨ Strong communication skills that inspire others to take action
🤝 Integrity, humility, and a collaborative spirit

If you’re the kind of person who:
🔥 Refuses to stay silent about injustice
🔥 Knows how to build relationships that actually *matter*
🔥 Can turn passion into action, awareness, and support
🔥 Isn’t afraid to challenge systems and push for more

Then we want to hear from you.

This is about more than outreach. More than fundraising. This is about showing up for people who are too often ignored—and helping us grow the movement that stands with them.

👉 look here for the full job description and apply: https://www.indeed.com/job/community-engagement-development-coordinator-61a4974cdbb79911

And if this isn’t you—share it. Because the right person needs to see this.

🚫 **STOP SCROLLING. READ THIS.** 🚫

Many of us were never taught what human trafficking really looks like.
And because of that… adult victims are often overlooked.

⚠️ **Adults are being trafficked in Connecticut. Every single day.**

Not always kidnapped.
Not always physically restrained.

But still controlled. Still trapped.

👉 Through fear
👉 Through addiction
👉 Through threats to their family
👉 Through money they’re never allowed to keep

Some of the biggest misconceptions are:

🗣️ “They could just leave.”
🗣️ “They chose this.”

The reality is far more complicated.

Traffickers don’t need chains when they have:
❗ Psychological control
❗ Financial dependence
❗ Threats or violence
❗ Shame that keeps victims silent

💔 Many survivors don’t get help right away — not because people don’t care,
but because the signs are often misunderstood.

⚠️ Connecticut’s location between major cities makes it a known trafficking corridor. This is real, and it’s happening here.

👀 The more we understand, the better we can recognize it — and respond.

🤝 At The Underground New England, we’re working to bring awareness, support survivors, and be part of the solution — but we can’t do it alone.

💬 If this matters to you, consider supporting our mission or getting involved. Even small actions make a real difference.

We’re focusing on the wrong thing. Our news feeds have been flooded with stories about human trafficking in the last few days – and I’m glad that we’re finally talking about trafficking – but… Not like this. I don’t want you to burn out. I don’t want you to get overwhelmed by the evil. I want you to know that survivors can heal. I want you to know that you can help survivors build freedom. Freedom doesn’t happen when a door gets kicked down and a trafficker gets arrested.
No, Freedom happens when you, the community, wraps around victims and supports them. We get to witness freedom happen every day at UGNE. So do you want survivors to be free? Then come to our conference this Saturday, February 21st from 8:15 AM – 12:30 PM. You’ll walk away knowing exactly how to build freedom. Link in Bio.

What happens to survivors after you arrest the trafficker? Sadly, arrests are only the beginning. If you really want survivors to be free you need to do far more than prosecute traffickers. The reality is that survivors get stuck in cycles of exploitation. When one trafficker leaves, another one shows up. So what stops that cycle? 🤔
Survivor support – and I don’t just mean money. Survivors need a community that shows up for them. Ready to learn what real freedom looks like?

Come to our free half-day conference on Saturday, 2/21 in Bethel CT. We break down exactly why trafficking happens, why survivors are struggling, and what your unique role is. You’ll walk away knowing exactly how to build life-long freedom. Link in bio.

What happens to the victims when a trafficker gets arrested? Freedom doesn’t happen overnight. Recovery doesn’t happen when the door gets knocked down, when the trafficker gets arrested, or when you run out the door.

No, freedom is a life-long journey we cannot take alone. We need community, mentors, resources, safe homes. On Saturday, February 21st, you can learn from survivors what it takes to be free. And more importantly, learn how *you* can be part of that journey to freedom. Join us for a free half-day conference – registration link in bio

Kaylie’s 2026 vision? An apartment for her and her baby. The only catch?

She has an eviction on her record. It’s a super normal struggle for survivors of human trafficking.

Many of our clients have eviction records, criminal records, and poor credit. All because of their trafficker.

Unable to get a home, they’re falling through the cracks of a broken system.

Without a home, what do you do? Where do you go? How do you build a new life when you don’t know where you’ll sleep next week?

That’s why we’re here. To stand in the cracks and the gaps of the broken system. To catch you before you fall through.

We’ll pay Kaylie’s back rent. We’ll wipe the eviction of her record.

We’ll stand in the gap so she can stand up.

Will you stand with us?

Sometimes it really is just that simple.

Before ‘Jaylyn’ had a mentor her life was this, 😭.

But then donors like you gave her a mentor and everything changed.

She got out of an abusive relationship.

She went from homeless to living in her own apartment.

She enrolled in school.

Because of you, she can make her dreams come true.

Donors gave Jaylyn a mentor. Donors turned her mourning into dancing.

It’s simple, really. When you give a survivor a mentor, you turn 😭into 😄.

So, this Christmas? Give a survivor 😄. Give her a mentor.

“Oh, K was just so surprised and happy when I gave her the gifts. Said she hasn't gotten gifts in years” 😭😭😭

Listen, I think sometimes we get hung up on the big things. Housing, jobs, income, those all matter.

But how do you assess the number of times a client felt loved? Cared for? Valued?

You can’t count C dancing when she saw the Christmas decorations

You can’t count the number of times a client cried over unexpected gifts from their sponsor.

You can’t count H’s lil daughter floating across the floor when she saw she had a gift.

You can’t count the way she had to setup her Bluey tent right then and there.

You can’t count the peace L felt driving home.

Traffickers don’t just sell people. They steal their lives. They steal their holidays and their family and their friends and their hope.

So yeah, we’ll get you housed. We’ll help you get a job. But we’re also gonna make sure you get a community that loves you all the day long.

We’re gonna give you a home. 💗🎄
