Farmers and Friends Cowboy Church Closed upon Gary’s death 10-17-2021

Gary has been gone 1 year yesterday. Still miss him fiercely but the pain lessens. The Great Commission was very important to and in honor of that I would like to share a post I got from a friend. It is blunt but so was Gary. This is important so pass it on….

Let's be clear. If you end up in a burning hell for all eternity, it won't be because you have a tattoo, or because you have a nose ring, or because you drink beer or smoke ci******es, or because you cuss, or because you spent time in prison. It won't be because you didn't do enough good deeds. It won't be because you didn't belong to the right church. It won't be because of that dumb thing you did that you don't want anybody to know about. It won't be because of what anyone else did to you. It will be because you refused to receive Jesus Christ (God the Son) as your personal Savior. He already paid for all the stupid stuff you have done and all the stupid stuff you are going to do when He died FOR YOU on the cross and rose again. He offers salvation as a free gift because, let's face it, if it was up to us to earn it, we would have no chance (We all know that, don't we?). The gift of salvation is there for you to receive. The decision is totally up to you. The price for your sins has been paid, the way to heaven for you has been made. If you end up in a burning hell for all eternity, you have no one to blame but yourself.

Grieving these last 10+ months since Gary passed truly has been ( and continues to be) the hardest work I ever have done. I believe that sometimes we have unfinished business with losses of other loved ones that make the pain of a more recent loss more painful. Thinking back I lost my mom in 2005, my dad in 2011, my first husband John in 2011, my aunt Cleta in 2012 and then Gary in 2021. Cleta and Gary did so much to help me with my faith walk. Listening to the Lord for his guidance about his purpose for me now… I have spent some time today thinking about heaven and God’s assurance that believers will be reunited for eternity.

Looking over some of Gary’s papers I found this poem he wrote called I will live which I want to share.

I will live, I will follow Jesus
For I believe he died for me.
I will live, there will be battles
I may be wounded, but God will heal me.
I will live, I will have scars
From my sins past, but God will teach me.
I will live, with peace in my soul, all of my days.
And then I’ll live, with Jesus in Heaven
For eternity, glory will be mine.
For when I live, in my new body
I will also live, with peace of mind.
You can live too, with Jesus up in Heaven
If his name you praise, for all your days.
****************************************
God’s word and promises are the only things that satisfy and fill the painful lonely places in our souls. Let God fill you today and walk with you in whatever you are battling. He will hold you, support you and wipe your tears when you cry.

Blessings and prayers
Rosalee

On Easter Gary will have been gone 6 months. Feels like forever and a blink at the same time. Still miss him so much!

Thoughts for this time of year from Gary's archives.
Excerpt from lyrics of the original song "That Stone":

You know that Jesus, He died for all our sins
And upon that cross, He gave His life my friend
They took His body to the tomb and then they rolled that stone in place.
God had a plan, that He would rest 3 days
Then He would roll that big stone out of the way
His Son would rise, no longer in the grave, He rolled that stone away.
The battles done, salvation has been won
He's gone ahead, He's joined the Three in One
And I will join HIm, when this life is done.
My stone is rolled away.

Blessings to you all this season!!
Rosalee

STILL sorting through Gary's papers. I am going to put all his original song lyrics, sermons and what I used to call "Gary-isms" into a binder and will later have copies made for any who are interested. "Gary-isms" are short, pithy comments on life as he saw it- usually quite memorable and right on.
The week before he died we attended a Christian conference in Branson (coming back Thursday-he died Sunday). In his notes from that week:
Storms of life come quickly and unexpectedly. No need to fear, Jesus is near.
1. Remember the promise of Jesus. Mark 4:35-40. Jesus keeps His promises.
2. Rest in the presence of Jesus. You may be in a storm even if you've done everything right. Safety is not the absence of problems. It is the presence of Jesus.
3. Rely on Jesus. He did not keep the storm from striking the boat, he kept it from sinking it!
Fear looks at the storm.
Faith looks at the Savior.

Blessings....

I have about 35 hymnals that we used for cowboy church that I would like to give away to a good home. They are in perfect condition. Any takers or suggestions on who I might contact?

I found this in Gary's pile of poems, sermon ideas and song lyrics. I found it so powerful and strengthening that wanted to share.
Rosalee

I've gone to be with Jesus
In Heaven on streets of Gold
I'm with my Holy Savior
Now my body's new, not old
Put your faith in the Son of God
And we will meet again.
I sing this message to all
who need salvations' plan
I tell you that I used to think
I'd make it as a man
But I was wrong as I could be
I didn't have a clue
The light of Jesus shined on me
He showed me what to do.

Gary's thoughts for the day:

Considering the mess this world is in, how do we think we can find our peace in the things of this world? True peace can ONLY be found in our God and our service to him.

AND

We don't worship a God
We worship THE God

I have started going thru Gary's desk/office. It is hard but know it needs to be done and over time it will be healing for me. But some of the short little "Gary-isms" I have found are too good not to share. He often had ideas that would pop into his head and had to rush to write them down before they escaped. So, I found on a 3 x 5 card written in blue crayon....

Trust in God when you feel lost. He created the wilderness. He will lead you through it if you follow closely.

I will have more to share over time...
