This weekend, August 29 & 30, we are happy to welcome the Catholic Biblical School of Michigan to St. Hugo's!

They are an adult faith formation ministry on a mission to help more Catholics understand the Scriptures and encounter Jesus in His Word.

Representatives are present for all of our Masses this weekend to share details about an upcoming Bible class starting this fall at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Troy.

Please step by their table in the gathering space after weekend Masses. We encourage you to engage with them, ask questions, and learn more about this wonderful opportunity to grow in your faith.

St. Hugo Parish and School took part in our Faith-formation retreat at Manresa. Facilitated by the dynamic Mike Chamberland, our focus was how we all have challenges in searching and finding peace. How can we reframe our minds and hearts to find peace. Do we wait to be found by the Jesus, or find His love for us that is already within us and achieve that peace and acceptance? A beautiful retreat, with breakout sessions, mass, and adoration, to start our new school year with open hearts and minds to everyone around us.

Save the date, and spread the news! Join us for the Our Lady of Sorrows Centennial Opening Mass and Celebration! Help us commemorate this historical year as Our Lady of Sorrows prepares to celebrate 100 years in 2027. We will celebrate our special Centennial Opening Mass, presided by our former pastor, Bishop Hurley, at the 11:30 AM Mass on Sunday, September 20, 2026 followed by a reception in the Lower Level of the Church.

Fr. Mark Brauer assisted with our St. Hugo staff to release a Monarch butterfly who emerged just this morning from her chrysalis. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” - 2 Corinthians 5:17

Gospel of the Day (Matthew 17,1-9)

Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light.
And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him.
Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, "Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him."
When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid.
But Jesus came and touched them, saying, "Rise, and do not be afraid."
And when the disciples raised their eyes, they saw no one else but Jesus alone.
As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, "Do not tell the vision to anyone until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead."
