Synod of the Covenant The Synod of the Covenant is one of 16 synods of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

Our Synod consists of 11 presbyteries and 620 congregations in Michigan and Ohio (and small slices of Kentucky, Indiana, and Wisconsin).

Today I was at two churches in Scioto Valley Presbytery whose combined age was almost 350 years! West Berlin (OH) Church invited me to preach for their 150th anniversary, and then I charged the congregation at Scott Nowack’s installation at First Marysville (OH). So much joy at both services!

Day 3 of the Cultivating the gift of Preaching conference included workshops on delivery, social justice, and parables; a keynote on preaching, hymns, and pastoral care; a preaching master class for the alumni; and cohort groups. The day ended with a delicious meal at a local restaurant and the finest karaoke you will ever hear!

Day 2 of the Cultivating the Gift of Preaching Conference saw us learn from a keynote by Dr Catherine Williams of Moravian Theological Seminary, workshops taking us through the whole Bible is 60 minutes and helping us understand the Book of Confessions, meet in cohort groups, and worship in the morning and evening. With alumni participants, we have more than 60 at the conference. Thanks be to God!
