Here's a challenge for this week—and really, for life:
WATCH YOUR MOUTH; wash it with godliness.
The words that come out of our mouths reveal the character within. Do your words reflect godliness, love, grace, and uplifting hope—or worldliness, negativity, foul language, bad attitude, and compromise? When we evaluate our words, it causes us to also evaluate our hearts and our souls desires.
SCRIPTURE SPEAKS HERE:
"Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." — Matthew 12:34
-
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." — Ephesians 4:29
-
"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." — Proverbs 18:21
-
"Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones." — Proverbs 16:24
-
Before we speak, we should ask ourselves:
• Are my words bringing life or death?
• Encouragement or discouragement?
• Hope or hopelessness?
• Christlikeness or compromise?
-
Our mouths reveal what fills our hearts. May our words be seasoned with grace and love, rooted in truth, and used to build others up for the glory of God, stirring them UP for Godly love and works of His desire.
Hebrews 10:24
