Yesterday, several members received text messages from someone pretending to be Pastor Rick. The messages came from an unfamiliar phone number and requested gift cards and a get-well card, claiming he was in a meeting.

Please be aware: this is a scam.

Pastor Rick will never contact you by text or email to ask for money, gift cards, or personal purchases in this way.

If you ever receive a suspicious message like this:

Do not respond
Do not send money or gift cards
BLOCK THE NUMBER THE REQUEST CAME FROM
Verify the request by contacting Pastor Rick, myself, or your council president directly
When in doubt, always double-check. It’s better to pause and confirm than to risk being taken advantage of.
