Welcome to Big Tree Wesleyan Church. We thank our Father, the Lord Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit; the Triune God for you today and pray as you spend time with God and with us, you will be blessed.

This is Labor Day weekend.

The Bible has many verses about labor, but not just physical labor but laboring for the Kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Exodus 20:8-10 Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.

Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Psalm 128:2 You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.

So as you relax this weekend, I pray your thoughts turn to God, who not only gives your earthly provisions, but has provided you the Way to spend eternity with Him. And on that day, all labor will cease.
Praise God.
Thank you Lord for Your provisions here on earth. We look forward to the day when all labor will end and we can spend our days worshiping You.

Welcome to Big Tree Wesleyan church.

There is a sign above the sanctuary entrance that says "where burdens are lifted".
It isn't the sanctuary where burdens are lifted, it is a physical place where we hope you will meet a Holy God for a few moments and spend time with Him, pour out your heart to Him, tell Him what is weighing you down and ask Him to lift that burden.
In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus says,
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Right now we have some in our church who are carrying unimaginable burdens. Their yokes are crushing them, and may even feel as though the Lord has abandoned them.
And it can be a trite statement to say "just trust God".
And in those times saying "I'm praying for you", sounds hollow.

This is where our faith must rise above mere words. It must be a "fall on your face, tears inducing, pleading with our Holy and Righteous Father", asking please God show me. Help me understand.

There will be times when we don't get the immediate answer or the answer we want and we must simply trust. Trust that He has a greater purpose despite our pleadings and trust that His ways are higher than our ways.

Lord, we pray right now for those suffering here at Big Tree Wesleyan. Father God our family is under a tremendous burden, their hearts are heavy and weighed down and may even feel as though you are absent.
Almighty Father, we know that isn't true, there is nothing that escapes You.
We ask for wisdom and understanding, we ask for healing and restoration, we ask for You to reveal yourself in a manner that only You can, but above it all Father we ask that You gain the glory from these humble requests.
We don't demand, we simply ask God that if it be Your will to honor them, show Yourself mighty, and reveal that you are the One True God.

Welcome to Big Tree Wesleyan. We are back in the House of the Lord after a fabulous outdoor service. Thank you to all who participated in bringing it about.
As you have a seen in recent weeks, I've been posting about what events have occurred on the specific date.
August 23 is Nation Cuban Sandwich day and National Sponge Cake as well as "Find Your Inner Nerd" day. I don't have much to say about any of that, just consider it your useless facts for the day.
What God has been impressing on me lately these days is to consider His Word. The importance of getting deeper into the Bible. The Bible was written over a period of about 1,500 to 1,600 years. The earliest parts (such as the books attributed to Moses or early poetic books) were composed around 1400 to 1500 BC, while the final New Testament books (like Revelation) were finished around AD 90 to 95.
More than 40 different human authors contributed, including kings, prophets, fishermen, and scholars, but all Holy Spirit inspired.
The Bible is still relevant today as it was hundreds and thousands of years ago. It will pierce your heart, draw you closer to God, convict you, reveal what is coming in the not to distant future, the consequences of separation from God, but perhaps most importantly, teach you about incomparable Love. The Love of the Lord Jesus Christ.
If you haven't read it in a while, maybe this is your friendly reminder to open it again, "for the first time". Ask the Holy Spirit for "fresh eyes".

We made it to Guatemala late Saturday night. Yesterday was a day of rest and preparation for Monday and went on a walking tour to some of the shops. Then back for Church and worship. At 7pm. Grilled cheese and tomato carrot soup. Then lights out.
This morning we had devotions ate breakfast and went out to the Abuelitos (elderly)and Happy tummy’s. (Children). Then back to Impacto for a little rest. Then went out to get Gelato. Back to Impacto for dinner.
It was a fun day, exhausting but fun. Tomorrow we are doing home visits.
We continue to ask for prayers as most of the people and families are not Christian’s.

Welcome to Big Tree Wesleyan church. We thank the Father for your presence today, whether it's in person or online. It is no coincidence you are here. We believe God has something special in store for you.
Sunday is National Holding Hands day. Touch is one of the first senses that is developed in a human baby, bringing about important brain development and helping newborns to thrive. But the need for physical touch isn’t limited to babies and children. Sometimes, the power of a friend grabbing a hand to hold it in a difficult situation can bring about a courage and strength that could not be found otherwise.
Some of the health benefits of Holding hands: 1. Lower blood pressure; 2. Reduce Stress; 3. Boost Immunity; 4. Minimize pain.
All over the world people hold hands, some out of love, some to support, some to guide.
Now imagine, the Creator of the Universe, who was willing to sacrifice His life, and make a way to hold our hands, through the difficult times and then ultimately usher us into the hands of the Father in heaven.
Thank you Lord Jesus.

Welcome to BigTree Wesleyan church. We are so grateful you are joining us this Sunday and as always we pray God the Father blesses you.
We will be joined by Scott Gizzy of Southtowns Christian Center in the pulpit.
Today is National Sisters day as well as National Ice Cream Sandwich day.
I'm not sure who makes up these days, most likely the card companies and the ice cream makers.
There is a unique quality about sisters and while I never had a sister I've been around family dynamics of those with sisters to see these relationships can be so rewarding and so frustrating at times.
Whichever relationship you find yourself in, it is important to remember we are all fearfully and wonderfully made.
We all have those traits which can be quite "trying" on those we love. One could almost saying annoying, but that is where we must rely on our claim as followers of Jesus Christ and to mirror His love, not our own, and not in our own strength, but that of the Holy Spirit.
If you have a sister or sisters or those who have been like a sister to you, tell them you love them. Today.
And maybe even offer them an Ice Cream Sandwich.
