1 Cor 16:13
Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

Luke 21:36
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

2 Tim 4:5
But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

1 Peter 4:7
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

That idea of watch could be written as, “wake up.” Stay alert, keep your spiritual wits about you, don’t fall asleep. That’s what we’ve been talking about the last three weeks from 1 John. Here are the basic tips we’ve discussed for waking up.

1 John
1:1-4 Listen and learn from other Christians
Learn from the experiences of others
1:5-10 Let the Light of Truth shine throughout your life
Allow the light to expose what is in the darkness
2:1-6 Learn the real facts about sin
Stay on the path, choose God’s way
2:7-11 Really be a part of the family of God
Don’t just go to church, be a part of the church
2:12-14 Know that you can know what you can know
You don’t have to guess...you can know
2:15-17 Stop dreaming about what you don’t have
Don’t allow yourself to be distracted by your lusts
2:20-23 Stop listening to Satan’s lies
He is a liar and the father of all lies
2:24-29 Abide: Stay close to the Savior
Exist in the presence of Jesus Christ
3:1-9 Wake up to the reality that you are a child of God
You are born into a royal family, don’t throw that away
3:10-24 Expect to be hated by the world
Let this be a wake up call
4:1-6 Learn to discern the lies from the truth
This takes wisdom and knowledge
4:4-14 See the evidence of God’s presence
4:15-21 Grow in your love for God
5:1-12 Show your love for God
5:13-21 Know, really know, the God you love
