This week’s “Student Spotlight” features Reece Michael Manders!
A dedicated member of our College & Career group, Reece is a part of our community and goes to UGA, where he is studying mechanical engineering (though some are jokingly calling it botany!).
He has big plans for the future, aiming to kick off his engineering career, start a family, and, naturally, become president of the world.
When he isn’t hitting the books or planning world domination, Reece shares his talents through 3D printing and solving Rubik’s cubes. He is also a massive fan of the Georgia Bulldogs (obviously!) and the Atlanta Braves.
His favorite part about C&C is that everyone can be completely open, fun, and edifying.
Recently, he has been channeling his passion into leadership by getting involved in starting a brand-new Baptist engineering student group at UGA.
His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:7.
From group leaders Mike and April:
"We are so glad to have Reece as part of our group. As past leaders in the youth group and now in C&C, we have always valued the way Reece is a friend to everyone. His blend of faith, humor, and big ambitions makes him a joy to be around, and we can't wait to see how God uses his talents both in engineering and beyond."

This morning during Sunday School one of our loved senior adults, Gary Cook, spent some time investing in our students. Gary gave his testimony and shared with us some of the interesting situations that God had placed him in during his life. Gary related several of the events in his life to events that took place in the Bible to show us how God’s word is alive and breathing. Thank you Gary for your time and your words.

This week’s “Student Spotlight” features Zoë Dubé!
A dedicated member of our College & Career group, Zoë serves on our student leadership team and lends her voice to the choir and praise team whenever she can. She stays busy balancing her studies in college, where she is studying to become a history teacher, and working as a barista at a local coffee shop. Be sure to visit her this summer at Dancing Rabbits!
When she isn’t hitting the books or brewing coffee, Zoë shares her talents through the art of crochet and her knack for cleaning and organizing and according to some who know her, she’s quite discerning.
Her favorite thing about C&C is the versatility of the group—she loves that they can transition from laughing and joking to being serious and vulnerable. Zoë really values how the group helps each other out and serves the community through local mission work.”
Recently, Zoë has been embracing the great outdoors by taking up rock climbing and backpacking, and she’s even been hitting the floor for some swing dancing! Looking ahead, she is excited to eventually teach middle or high school history. Looking further into the future, she also hopes to start a family of her own.
Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 42:1.
From group leaders Mike and April:
“We have been blessed to watch Zoë grow in her faith since she came to know the Lord. We are so proud of her and excited to see the amazing things God has in store for her.”

This week’s “Student Spotlight” features Jayden Karnes!
A dedicated member of our College & Career group, she is a familiar face in our church family! If you have been around for very long, you have had one of her famous cupcakes or even asked her to make a batch for you! She regularly bakes up yummy treats and is ready to be in the kitchen anytime she’s asked. Jayden has a true servant’s heart and is always willing to help anyone who needs it.

She has just reached a major milestone, graduating from cosmetology school and earning her license as a Master Cosmetologist! You can look for her soon at Naavah Hair Salon right here in Blairsville!

For Jayden, C&C has been more than just a small group; it has been a constant source of encouragement and a true family through every season of life. She treasures, and has come to depend on, the friendships and the community that always cheer her on.

Her favorite Bible verse is James 1:2. During a recent time of uncertainty and doubt, this verse has been a powerful reminder that joy is found in God’s constancy even when life doesn't go as expected.

A Note from Jayden:
“This group is truly one of my favorite parts of the week. It’s more than a small group, it feels like a family. We’ve grown so close through Bible studies, mission trips, the occasional ice cream night, and simply being there for each other. Mike and April, thank you from the bottom of my heart for pouring into us the way you do. You both feel like second parents to me, and it’s such a gift to watch you serve God through this ministry. ❤️”

From group leaders Mike and April:
"It is such a gift to have you in our group. Watching you grow in your faith reminds us of the importance of C&C. Your heart for serving, and your joy and constant laughter, are a blessing to everyone around you. We are so proud of your hard work in school and can’t wait to see how God uses your talents at the salon!"

This week’s “Student Spotlight” features Brady Miller!
A devoted member of our College & Career group, Brady is actively deepening his service to the church. He is currently training on the soundboard team and is making it a priority to serve in the wood ministry. Brady’s focus right now is singular and powerful: desperately seeking the Lord in every aspect of his life, from his work to his primary calling of leading his wife, Jaceyallen, closer to Christ.

Before Brady put his faith in Jesus, his main focus was grinding to make money and to prepare for retirement. As he came to faith, he realized there is so much more to life, like leading the rest of his family to Christ. He hopes to help them find rest in the Lord.

Recently, he has been reflecting on the amazing way God has always been present in his life, even in the music and quiet moments during past seasons of depression, providing a strength he didn't even realize was there at the time.
Brady is deeply grateful for the C&C community, noting how beautiful it is to see the group lean on one another and use their unique gifts of discernment to grow together.
His favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 61:3: “To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.”
From group leaders Mike and April:
“It has been such a joy to witness Brady’s growth and his heart for the Lord. We are so encouraged by his desire to lead his family well and his commitment to the community here. We are truly thankful for the way he encourages us all to lean on one another as we follow Christ together.”
