The WCMA oversees the Good Samaritan Fund, providing emergency financial assistance to residents of Washington County.

Here’s what’s happening in the Blair area Faith Community:

Blair First United Methodist Church is having a Breakfast Fundraiser on June 6 from 8-11am. All proceeds will go to the Washington County Food Pantry.

Movie & a Meal is on June 7 at 5pm at Christ Lutheran Church. The meal theme is party foods and the movie is Indivisible. Bring something to share and enjoy a time of fellowship.

Women’s Connection is coming up on Tuesday, June 9 at 6:30pm at Christ Lutheran Church. The topic is “Why Am I Here?” with speaker Patricia Bishop. Molly Dahlgen, the executive director, will talk about Washington County. Tickets at the door are $12 to cover the meal. Call Tricia at 402-426-7068 to make reservations.

Community Prayer Network is meeting on Monday, June 1, at 7pm at 310 Eastgate, Blair, NE. It is a time of prayer for our community, nation, and world.

Pastor Mark Degner, lead pastor at Christ Lutheran Church, announced his semi-retirement in January 2026. He and his wife Linda will be relocating to another state. His final Sunday at the church will be June 14th. The community is cordially invited to attend the worship service at 9:00 a.m. on that day when Pastor Mark will deliver his farewell message. A fellowship time will follow the worship service. Christ Lutheran Church is located at 750 Angels Share Drive in Blair.

5th Sunday Potluck from Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church is on May 31, after 9:30am outdoor worship at Adams Street Park. Bring a side dish or dessert. Grilled hamburgers will be provided.

RetroActive is a group of people aged 50 and beyond. We enjoy sharing our faith, fun, fellowship, and of course, food!! We meet twice a month through the school year and in the summertime, we have what we call "special outings" where we go to different places of interest, etc. We also have our Lunch Bunch and Supper Bunch, where we try to go to some interesting places to eat. If you have any questions about this group, please contact Joyce Hudson. Information is below....Let her know if you would like to come and find out what we're all about, because WE'RE NOT DONE YET!!!!

HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OUR AREA…

Herman Legion Post 274 is having free coffee and donuts for veterans and their families on May 16 from 8-11am at Herman Legion Hall.

Papio NRD Electronic Recycling Collections is on May 19 at 10am-noon in Tekamah (539 S. 13th St.) and 2-5pm in Blair (1060 Wilbur St.). Free disposal of computers, monitors, keyboards, TVs, printers, DVD players, audio/video equipment, small electronic devices, and radios. No large appliances or computer/electronic repair.

Night Market in Art Alley & Pocket Park Downtown Blair is on Thursday, May 21st from 5-9pm. There will be mini root beer floats and boutique vendors.

Nomadic Novels Mobile Bookstore has its grand opening on May 21 at 5:30pm at the Art Alley.

Summer 4th Friday Block Party at Art Alley is starting May 22 from 5:30-8pm. There will be family-friendly entertainment, games, and food trucks.

Memorial Community Hospital is having a lunch and learn on Tuesday, May 26, from noon- 1 pm in the Bagby/Gentry Conference Rooms. The topic is Nutrition as We Age: Eating healthy to prevent chronic disease.

Vacation Bible Schools are just around the corner. Here are some in our area:

Fort Calhoun Community VBS is happening June 1-5 from 9am-noon at Schwertley Hall. The Theme is Rainforest Falls: Exploring the Nature of God. Children 4 years old through completed 5th grade are welcome to attend. Register at vbspro.events/p/fc2026 For questions contact [email protected].

The theme is "At the Table.” Children 3 years old through just finishing 5th grade are welcome to attend. Suggested donation of $10 per child or $30 per family.
