Our Fall Kickoff! Join us for some crazy fun as we kick off our Fall/Winter season!
Bring someone new with you!
This meeting will be “Pub Style”, you know, like in the movie Casablanca.
No, you don’t have to dress like Humphrey Bogart or Sam the piano player.
Come ready to enjoy some pub-style food.
We’ll be providing some Smoked bone-in chicken wings with a variety of sauces.
Soft pretzels with some cheese dip.
Nacho chips with some cheese and meat.
If you would like to bring something like extra nacho toppings, other pubstyle foods, or desserts, please feel free to do so. I WON’T BE UPSET!!
You all KNOW how I love food!!!

From Pastor Shay - A Word of Encouragement

The other morning, I was reading Psalm 107, and I was struck by just how wonderfully God loves, saves, and restores us. Spend a moment meditating on these verses:



Psalm 107:5-9
They were hungry and thirsty;
their spirits failed within them.
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble;
he rescued them from their distress.
He led them by the right path
to go to a city where they could live.
Let them give thanks to the Lord
for his faithful love
and his wondrous works for all humanity.
For he has satisfied the thirsty
and filled the hungry with good things.



Throughout Psalm 107, we see that God saves and rescues us when we wander, when we rebel, when we are foolish, when we are helpless, when we are in distress, when we are hungry, and when we have been humbled.



And each time the Psalmist identifies our crises, he proclaims, “Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; he rescued them from their distress.”



Two things jump out at me. First, we are so wildly undependable as people. I am reminded of Isaiah 53:5-6, which tells us that we all, like sheep, have gone astray. Whether I am wandering from God, running from God, or simply trying to find my own way through, I so easily drift from who God has called me to be and what He has called me to do. What about you?



Oh, but the second truth that leaps off the page is JUST HOW GOOD GOD IS! When we wander, when we are in distress, and even when we rebel, He is so loving and so kind in the way only God can be. He hears my cry; and He rescues me from my distress.



Doesn’t this loud and desperate world need to know that God hears their cry? I know I do. Even more than that, Psalm 107 tells me that God does more than hear me… He extends His mighty hand to save! He doesn’t just listen, He acts on our behalf!



Though we did not deserve it, though we have no right to demand it, God freely lends us His ear and His hand to rescue us in our time of need.



That’s good news. Who needs to hear it from you this week?

Memorial Community Hospital released information regarding Heat Exhaustion vs Heat Stroke as we are in the heat of summer. When temperatures climb, it's important to know the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Heat Exhaustion Signs may include:
• Heavy sweating
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Nausea
• Muscle cramps
• Weakness
If you notice these symptoms, move to a cool place, drink water, and rest.

Heat stroke is a medical emergency and may cause:
• A body temperature of 103°F or higher
• Confusion or altered mental state
• Slurred speech
• Loss of consciousness
• Hot, red skin
If someone is showing signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately and move them to a cooler area while waiting for help.

Whether you're working outdoors, spending time at the lake, attending a ball game, or enjoying a community event, staying hydrated and taking breaks in the shade can help prevent heat-related illness.

Here’s what’s happening in the Blair Area Faith Community:

The Mid-Week Meal at First Lutheran on Wednesday is meat & cheese sandwiches and chips. To order for pick up or delivery, to volunteer or donate, call Erica at 402-426-4073. Upcoming menus are available online at FirstLutheranBlair.org

Christmas In July is coming up on Friday, July 24 from 5:30-8:30pm at Steyer Park. There will be games, crafts, music, and food. All activities are free. Donations will be accepted for the Washington County Food Pantry.

Pack the Park is happening on Saturday, August 8 from 6-9pm at the Blair Youth Sports Complex. Reach Church is having this outreach event to help provide students with school supplies, shoes, and water bottles.
