On National Peace Officers Memorial Day, the Lindenwold Police Department remembers one of our own, Hugh β€œPop” Shannon, who made the ultimate sacrifice on December 24, 1946.

Shannon was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while directing traffic for Midnight Mass at St. Lawrence Church on the White Horse Pike.

Today, we honor his service, his sacrifice, and his place in the history of our department and community. We will never forget.

Officer Shisler was working patrol on March 10, 2023 when he became engaged with a violent, armed felon who shot Officer Shisler in the upper leg. He was quickly rushed to Cooper Hospital in Camden City where he bravely fought for his life for two months. Sadly, Officer Shisler succumbed to his injuries on this day two years ago. β¬›οΈπŸŸ¦β¬›οΈ
