PILGRIM REST MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH HISTORY:

In the year 1888, seventeen members from the Frost Branch Baptist Church and the Macedonia Baptist Church decided to organize a church five and one half miles north of Blackville, South Carolina. m Rest Missionary Baptist Church. At the assembly, Rev. Gilbert Kirkland acted as Chairman and Rev. Brodie as clerk. These members along with the above name ministers set to work on policies and constructional plans need to begin building. The building was finally completed without any labor expense. When the building was completed, Mrs. Carrie Boylston named this Church: THE PILGRIM REST MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH:

In April 23, 1970, Rev. James Gadson and the church membership decided to launch a building program. The new sanctuary was dedicated March 31, 1974 and the external perimeter was finally bricked in the year of 1979. The church has progressed spiritually under the leadership and guidance from the following pastors: Revs. Alfred Hair, W.S. Kennedy, J.W. Faust, W.W. Chappell, E. Hayes, S. Watson, W.M. Herbert, M.B. Bush, G. Blocker, O.C. Parker, C.A. Zeilger, James Bruce, N. Bryant, C.D. Dowling, James Rhodes, James Gadson, Bennie Wiggins, Allan C. Keitt and our present Pastor, John D. Holston.
