Day 2 devotion from Pastor Andy's May 31 message.

Your Enemies Are Chained

That addiction that once controlled you? Chained. The fear that used to paralyze you? Chained. The shame from your past? Chained. The depression that felt overwhelming? Chained. Jesus didn't just defeat these enemies - He chained them to His victory chariot as proof of His conquest. Yes, they might still make noise. A chained lion can still roar, but it cannot attack. The devil's greatest weapon now is intimidation, trying to make you afraid of what has already been defeated. Those things that used to be your master have lost their authority over you. Jesus has taken control, and you need to start living like those defeated enemies are no longer your boss. Stop giving power to what has already been conquered.

Bible Verse
'And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.' - Colossians 2:15

Reflection Question
What defeated enemy in your life are you still allowing to intimidate you, even though it's been chained to Christ's victory chariot?

Prayer
Lord, help me recognize that my past struggles no longer have authority over me. Give me courage to live in Your victory. Amen.

What a wonderful Father’s Day at New Life! We were blessed to celebrate and honor all of the fathers and father figures who make such a difference in the lives of their families and our church. Thank you to everyone who joined us for SUNgroups and worship as we gathered in God’s presence.

We enjoyed powerful worship, heartfelt fellowship, and an encouraging message from God’s Word. We are thankful for every dad who leads with faith, love, and integrity. Happy Father’s Day to all our fathers—we pray God’s richest blessings upon you and your families!

This week's devotion is from Pastor Andy's May 31 message.

Day 1: The Cross: Victory, Not Defeat

When we look at the cross, what do we see? Many see suffering, pain, and defeat. But that's not the whole story. The cross wasn't the end - it was the beginning of the greatest victory in history. Jesus didn't stumble out of the grave wounded and barely surviving. He emerged as the conquering King, having defeated every enemy that held humanity captive. What looked like defeat to the world was actually the moment when Jesus chained sin, death, and hell to His victory chariot.

Today, you're not following a defeated Savior who barely made it through. You're marching behind the King of Kings Who conquered it all. This changes everything about how you face your day, your struggles, and your future.

Bible Verse
'When He ascended on high, He took many captives and gave gifts to His people.' - Psalms 68:18

Reflection Question
How does knowing that Jesus emerged from the grave as a conquering King rather than a wounded survivor change your perspective on the challenges you're facing today?

Prayer
Jesus, thank You that the cross was Your victory, not Your defeat. Help me to see my struggles through the lens of Your triumph. Amen.

Day 5 devotion from Pastor Andy's May 24 message.

Progressive Transformation

Salvation is just the beginning of your spiritual journey, not the end. The moment you accepted Christ, the Holy Spirit began a work of progressive transformation in your life. You shouldn't be the same person today that you were when you first got saved - there should be evidence of ongoing change.

This transformation isn't about perfection; it's about progression. The Holy Spirit produces fruit in your life gradually - more love, increased patience, growing self-control. Old patterns of thinking and behaving should be giving way to new ones that reflect Christ's character.

Sometimes we get discouraged because change seems slow, but God is patient with our growth process. He's more interested in lasting transformation than quick fixes. Every day, He's working to make you more like Jesus, developing His character within you.

The key is staying connected to your power source and allowing the Holy Spirit to do His transforming work. Don't resist the process - embrace it. God has incredible plans for who you're becoming.

'When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.' - Acts 2:1-4

What specific areas of growth can you identify in your life since becoming a Christian, and where do you sense God wanting to continue His transforming work?

Holy Spirit, continue Your transforming work in my life. Help me cooperate with Your process of making me more like Jesus each day.

Breaking Free from Complacency

One of the greatest threats to spiritual vitality isn't persecution or hardship - it's complacency. When we become comfortable with going through the motions, attending church out of habit rather than hunger, we drift away from the very power that should define our Christian experience.

Many believers today wonder why they don't see miracles or experience God's presence like they read about in Scripture. The issue isn't that God has changed or that His power has diminished. The problem is that we've settled for a form of Christianity that requires nothing supernatural.

Complacency is the enemy of revival. When we're satisfied with mediocrity, we stop seeking more of God. We replace the Holy Spirit's work with entertainment, programs, and human effort. But God responds to desperation, not comfort.

The early church turned the world upside down because they were filled with holy desperation for God's presence and power. They couldn't imagine living without the supernatural dimension of faith. Neither should we.

'They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.' - Acts 1:14

What signs of spiritual complacency do you recognize in your own life, and what steps can you take to reignite your hunger for God?
