Grab the Rope

The rope was lowered. The rags were in place. Everything was ready. But Jeremiah still had to make a choice. He had to reach out and grab it.

God will not force the rescue. He provides the way out, but He invites you to respond. And sometimes that is the hardest part, not because the rope is not there, but because grabbing it means letting go. Letting go of old fears. Old wounds. Old ways of thinking that have kept you company in the pit for so long they started to feel familiar.

But here is the good news: God is not only interested in getting you out. He is interested in your healing as you come out. The wisdom you have gained at the bottom of that pit is not wasted. What you walked through is preparing you for what comes next. The mud was never the end of your story.

If God spoke it, the mud cannot cancel it. If He called you, the pit cannot uncall you. The fire He placed inside of you is still burning, and it is time to reach for the rope.

You have not come this far to give up. Today, choose the palace over the pit. Grab the rope. God has already done His part, and He is waiting on yours.

Bible Verse
"I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." - Psalms 40:1

Reflection Question
What fear or familiar struggle do you need to release in order to grab the rope God is lowering into your situation right now?

Prayer
Father, I choose to grab the rope today. Help me release what I have been holding onto and trust that Your way out is enough. Thank You that the mud beneath my feet has never been stronger than the fire You placed inside of me. Amen.

Old Rags and Unlikely Tools

When help finally came for Jeremiah, it did not arrive the way anyone would have expected. Ebed-Melech gathered old rags and worn-out clothing to cushion the rope under Jeremiah's arms as he was lifted out. Not impressive. Not polished. Just old, overlooked scraps. And yet, that is exactly what God used.

This is one of the most encouraging patterns in Scripture. God consistently chooses what the world considers insufficient. He takes the small, the broken, the leftover, and the ordinary, and He uses it to accomplish something extraordinary. Not because He has to, but because it is His nature to do so.

Maybe you have looked at what you have to offer and thought it was not enough. Your story feels too messy. Your gifts feel too small. Your resources feel too limited. But God is not waiting for you to have it all together before He can use you.

What looks like an old rag in your hands can become the very tool God uses to bring someone else out of their pit. Your testimony, your presence, your willingness to show up, these are not small things in God's hands.

Do not disqualify yourself based on what you think you lack. Offer what you have. God will do the rest.

Bible Verse
"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong." - 1 Corinthians 1:27

What have you been holding back from God because you assumed it was too small or too broken to be useful?

"What looks like an old rag in my hand, what looks like worthless clothing can become the rescue tool God uses to bring somebody out."

Prayer
Lord, I surrender what I have to You today, even if it feels like old rags. Use what I have to bring hope to someone who needs it, and remind me that You are not limited by what looks insufficient. Amen.

God Sends People

Devotional
When Jeremiah was stuck in the pit, God did not send a dramatic miracle. He sent a man named Ebed-Melech. An ordinary person who noticed, spoke up, and refused to walk past someone in need.
That is how God often works. Not always through the spectacular, but through the faithful. Through the friend who checks in at just the right time. Through the stranger who says the exact thing you needed to hear. Through the person in your church who simply refuses to leave you down there.

Ebed-Melech did not have to get involved. It would have been easier to stay quiet. But he chose to act, and that choice became the turning point in Jeremiah's story.

We need people like that in our lives, and we need to be people like that for others. Sometimes the most powerful ministry is not a polished program or a perfectly worded prayer. Sometimes it is simply holding the rope while someone else is still in the pit.

Look around you today. Someone in your circle may be sinking and too tired to ask for help. You might be the Ebed-Melech in their story. And if you are the one in the pit, know this: God sees you, and He is already sending someone your way.

"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor." - Ecclesiastes 4:9

Is there someone in your life right now who needs you to notice them, speak up, and refuse to walk past their struggle?

Sometimes ministry is not just in we pray for deliverance, but sometimes we hold the rope while the other is still in the pit.

Prayer
God, give me eyes to see the people around me who are sinking. Make me someone who holds the rope, and when I am the one in the pit, help me trust that You are already sending help. Amen.

God Knows Where You Are

One of the loneliest feelings in the world is believing that no one sees what you are going through. You carry the weight quietly. You smile when you need to. And deep down, you wonder if anyone, even God, notices. Jeremiah was at the bottom of a pit. Out of sight. Forgotten by most. But not by God.

God always knows the address of your struggle. He knows what keeps you up at night. He knows the conversation you have not had with anyone, the fear you have not named out loud, and the wound you have been carrying alone. There is no pit deep enough, no season dark enough, and no silence long enough to put you outside of His reach.

Psalm 139 reminds us that there is nowhere we can go where God is not already there. He is not searching for you from a distance. He is present with you right now, in the middle of whatever you are facing.

You may feel invisible to the people around you. But you are never invisible to Him. He sees you. He has not moved on. And He has not forgotten what He promised you.

Take a breath today. You are not hidden from God. You are held by Him.

Bible Verse
"Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast." - Psalms 139:7-10

What would change in how you face today if you truly believed God sees every detail of what you are going through?

Prayer
Father, thank You for seeing me even when I feel invisible. Help me rest in the truth that I am never out of Your sight, and that Your presence goes with me into every hard place. Amen.
