Tonight was part 2 of our Hagah Study with bro Joseph. Come join us next Sunday at 6 p.m. as we continue to discuss the recovery of the ancient practice of eating the Scriptures.

The study session begins this coming Sunday at 6 p.m. All are welcome, come join us as we begin a multi week journey of learning to eat the Holy Scriptures!

Hagah (הָגָה) is the Hebrew word for “meditate” but it isn’t just a silent meditation.

In Hebrew it also means to murmur, mutter, or even growl—like a lion over its prey or a dove cooing. It’s an active, vocal process of turning Scripture over and over in your mind and mouth, day and night.

Not emptying your thoughts…

Filling them with the words of God.

Psalm 1:1-3 says:

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate [hagah] day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

Come join us at Bethel Baptist Church men’s study tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. for “The Tale of Two Cities: Alexandria, Egypt vs Antioch, Syria, as we delve through the Holy Scriptures and see what the Bible has to say about the locations of the source texts of the English Bible.
