Before the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, teams from the sister churches, Spring of Life UMC in Kyiv and Blacksburg UMC, visited one another to share their homes, worship, and meals together. In Blacksburg, Spring of Life UMC’s members even enjoyed Hokie sports! Go Hokies!

One of our recent offering moments celebrated the youth mission trip to Knoxville, TN this past June! Our youth worked hard all week, building two new decks, packing 678 food boxes for children, washing a homeowner's car, and cleaning out a homeowners garage! They were rewarded with a fun day at Dollywood!

Did you know? BUMC’s Eurasian ministry dates to 1998, when Russian children visited Blacksburg and gave BUMC this wooden egg and cross that sit on our altar today. The Ukrainian flag there honors our sister church relationship with Spring of Life UMC in Kyiv, which began around the time of that church’s inception in 2001.
