Today is the International Day of Peace. 🕊️ Let us pray, "O God, it is your will to hold both heaven and earth in a single peace. Let the design of your great love shine on the waste of our wraths and sorrows, and give peace to your church, peace among nations, peace in our homes, and peace in our hearts; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen (ELW, p. 76)." 🌏

Today marks the 20th Anniversary of September 11, 2001. Thousands of lives were lost in this attack and hundreds gave their lives in service to others on that day. The Metro D.C. Synod, ELCA and Virginia Synod invite you to join us in prayer this day, especially as we remember the families affected by the violence at the Pentagon.

Let us pray.

Eternal God, amid all the turmoil and changes of the world your love is steadfast and your strength never fails. Turn our eyes to your mercy in this time of remembering the attack of September 11, 2001. Comfort those for whom this day is painful, especially those who lost loved ones at the Pentagon. Bring healing to those who still suffer and bind up the broken hearted. Continue to guide us in ways of forgiveness and in building your peace on earth, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Amen.
