Excited this coming Sunday to continue in our series entitled "two kingdoms", preaching on attributes #4- #7 of Kingdom followers ( #'s 1-3 were last week). The four attributes are:

4. God-pleasers;
5. Overcomers;
6. Fools;
7. Heavenly investors

In the last point, I'm quoting an early church letter that was written from one Roman politician to another. It says: Christians … love all men, and are persecuted by all. They are unknown and condemned; they are put to death, and restored to life. They are poor, yet make many rich; they are in lack of all things, and yet abound in all; they are dishonored, and yet in their very dishonor are glorified. They are evil spoken of, and yet are justified; they are reviled, and bless; they are insulted, and repay the insult with honor; they do good, yet are punished as evil-doers. When punished, they rejoice as if quickened into life. They are assailed by the Jews as foreigners, and are persecuted by the Greeks; yet those who hate them are unable to assign any reason for their hatred. (Letter to Diognetus, chapter 5 (AD 80 - 200)).

Do you every wonder what a Kingdom follower (versus a "church member") is to look like, act like, and value? Jesus doesn't really talk much about the church (though Paul does), but about the nature and people of the Kingdom (162 times in the New Testament). This Sunday I'll be preaching on "Seven Attributes of People of the Kingdom". Join us this Sunday 9:15!

These will be three of the most important sermons I preach in 2024. Why? Because creating positive change in ourselves, our families, friendships, church, community and world is all about CHANGING CULTURES. And cultural change takes prayer, thought, and a "long obedience in the same direction." Don't miss this important series (in person or online)! www.TheRiverNRV.org

This coming Sunday I preach on "avarice" (greed). Deyoung's chapter is probably the best I've ever read on it. So dense I feel I need to re-read it every year to absorb and apply! Join us Sunday 9:15am as we travel with Jesus to the cross, that we might also journey with Him in the empty tomb!

Excited to preach the 3rd sermon in a series on the Holy Spirit. This Sunday we're talking about how the Holy Spirit mediates the love of God into our hearts (Romans 5:5). Here's a teaser quote from Peter Kreeft. Hope you can join us this Sunday 9:15am. www.TheRiverNRV.org

Do you want more joy, peace, confidence and empowerment in your life? I know I do! These are attributes that God promises through the Holy Spirit -- often misunderstood, ignored, or misrepresented! I'm VERY excited to preach on the Holy Spirit for the next four weeks. This week I'm specifically preaching on the many ways the Spirit guides us. Join us at 9:15am! www.TheRiverNRV.org

Excited to preach tomorrow on a topic that God has been speaking to me about since November ... self-control. So many see self-control (aka discipline) as legalistic, but Jesus demonstrated incredible self-control. So what is it, how can we benefit from it, and why do we lack it? Check us out in person 9:15am or online (www.TheRiverNRV.org).

Gal 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

This is an excerpt from my sermon tomorrow. These are an article/book begging to be written.

Ten False Gospels I see synced within Christianity today:

1. Legalism.
2. Antinomianism.
3. Gnosticism.
4. Utilitarianism (prosperity gospel).
5. Universalism.
6. Hyper-Sacramentalism.
7. Bible Deism.
8. Hyper-Nationalism.
9. Hyper-Separatism.
10. Hyper-Individualism.

How should we enter 2024? With the Gospel (the Good News) of Jesus at the forefront of our personal lives, and our Churches. I'm excited to preach this coming Sunday -- December 1 -- on Galatians chapter 1: "what is the Gospel", and "ten false gospels" circulating around us . If you miss it, check out www.TheRiverNRV.org/sermons
