Every Fast Sunday, we’ll be sharing a testimony from someone in our stake. Our hope is that these testimonies will strengthen, uplift, and remind us of the faith we share.
I am grateful for the opportunity to share my testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and our Redeemer. I am grateful for His perfect example, His love, and for His atonement. I know that because of Him, we can repent, be forgiven, find peace, and have hope even when we feel like our trials are beyond our own strength. He is our strength.
I am grateful for the refiner’s fire and for the faith and strength that can come from enduring trials. I have witnessed this in my own father as his faith in and love for the Savior have grown through the trial of the health and strength of his earthly body. His example has taught me that even in our most difficult moments, the Lord can strengthen us and draw us closer to Him. My father is an incredible example of faith and endurance to my family.
I have a testimony of and am grateful for eternal families. I know that families are part of Heavenly Father’s plan for us. The relationships we have with those we love do not have to end with this life. What an amazing gift! Through the covenants and ordinances of the temple, families can be sealed together for eternity. That knowledge fills me with peace and an even greater love for my family.
I am grateful for and have a testimony of temples and the sacred work that takes place within them. I am grateful for the opportunity to make covenants with God and to go back often so that others may also have the same opportunities. I’m grateful for an eternal companion who loves God and his family. I know that temple work is a beautiful expression of God’s love for every one of His children. I have felt the strength and love of my ancestors as I have had the opportunity to take their names through the temple.
I also have a testimony of missionary work. I have witnessed the joy, the struggles, and the growth that comes to the missionary through missionary work over the last four years as my boys, Connor and Kade, have chosen to serve the Lord as missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I’ve cherished the opportunity to feel of their spirit and their love and desire to share the gospel. I’m especially grateful for the two missionaries that knocked on my mother’s door in Kentucky 60 years ago. She had exhausted all her efforts to find the truth and visited so many different churches to find answers to her questions. In a final effort, she prayed to God, pleading one last time to receive an answer. The following day, she received a knock on her door from the missionaries. These two young men were led and guided by the spirit to my mother that day. They were able to answer the questions that she had been pondering and wondering about for so long. That knock on her door that day changed not only her life, but the lives all of us, her posterity.
I know that the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that we have a living prophet today who receives revelation and guidance from our Heavenly Father. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it is another witness of Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ lives and loves each of us. He is our advocate. I am grateful for the gospel and for the opportunity to follow the Savior as His disciple. I bear record of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
