Today is another in honor of Ovarian Cancer Awareness (or OCA) month! 🩵

Today’s fact is that those with ovarian cancer experience physical changes that often leaves their abdomen feeling stretched, heavy, or weak.

This fact is why, beginning in 2016, our national organization developed our Crunch-A-Thon event to raise money for OCA and crunch for those who can’t!

“The one who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say concerning the LORD, who is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust…” 🤍

Our monthly spiritual development theme for September focuses on one of the names of God, El Shaddai, meaning God Almighty or the All-Sufficient One!

Today is our very first in honor of the beginning of Ovarian Cancer Awareness (or OCA) month! 🩵

Our hopes with is to raise awareness for ovarian cancer and all of the amazing organizations working to combat it.

To start right at home with today’s fact, on June 2, 2007, the sisters of Sigma Alpha Omega officially voted on Ovarian Cancer Awareness to become our national philanthropy. Since then, our chapters and national organization have worked to promote education and awareness efforts alongside the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance ), Teal Diva (Teal Diva ), and the NormaLeah Ovarian Cancer Initiative (NormaLeah OVCA Initiative ) (among others local to our chapters).

Our sisters are officially BACK TO SCHOOL! ✏️📓👩‍🏫

It never ceases to amaze us just how many wonderful things our sisters are able to accomplish all while balancing their academics! We are continuing to pray that the Lord blesses each of our sisters and each of our chapters with success in the academic year! 🤍

“He replied to them, ‘Who are my mother and my brothers?’ Looking at those sitting in a circle around him, he said, ‘Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.’” 🤍

Our first for the year comes from Cassie Hatch ( ) of the Alpha Omicron chapter at Clemson University!

When asked why she joined SAO, Cassie said:

“I chose to join SAO during the spring semester of my freshman year.  I hadn’t met ‘my people’ at Clemson yet and was scared going into the first night of recruitment but met some of the sweetest girls (including my future big) who made me feel like I had known them forever after just talking for a few hours.  Since that first night, I have made some amazing friends and memories that will stick with me forever, and I couldn’t have wished for a better experience so far.  I can’t wait for everything still to come in the next couple years!”

We’d love to hear more of our sisters’ stories! Please tag Sigma Alpha Omega Sorority on your next for a chance to be featured! 🤍

“Then he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. As soon as they put out leaves you can see for yourselves and recognize that summer is already near. In the same way, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near.” 🤍
