First Baptist Church exists to share the love of Christ with our neighbors both locally and across the globe. Whatever your passion or talent, you can play a special role in our mission. Some opportunities for mission include:

-Volunteering at and supporting the Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry
-Tutoring for Black Mountain Primary & Elementary students
-Hospital

ity House – housing for Missionaries on leave
-Community Garden
-Hosting the Black Mountain Tailgate Market
-Contributing to collections such as Operation Christmas Child, Easter Basket Ministry, Coal Country Backpacks
-Local Disaster Relief
-Hosting the annual SVCM Hunger Walk fundraiser, Fall Carnival for the Don Collins Early Learning Center, and others
-Medical Equipment Lending Closet
-Baby Gear Lending Closet
-Assisting Afghan refugee families in our area
-We also financially support the Black Mountain Counseling Center (non-profit mental health organization providing sliding scale treatment), SVCM (providing financial assistance, job placement, job training, and educational advancement to those in need), Ministry of Hope (a chaplaincy program which raises funds to employ on-site chaplains at Swannanoa Correctional Center for Women) and more!

What We Do Matters

Scripture: Galatians 6:9
​
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

There are days when what we do feels like a lot of small things - emails, conversations, problems to solve, people who need our attention. And sometimes we wonder, Is any of this really making a difference?

Paul reminds us that faithfulness often works beneath the surface. A seed doesn't look like much when it goes into the ground, but that doesn't mean nothing is happening.
​
The same is true of our work. Every conversation matters. Every person we encourage matters. Every problem we patiently solve matters. Every time we choose grace instead of frustration, we are planting something.
​
And perhaps that is our purpose today - not to accomplish everything, but to plant something good.
​
So as we begin this week, let's remember: We may not always see the harvest, but we can be faithful with the seed.
​
God can take our ordinary efforts and use them for extraordinary purposes.
​.
Let's go into today with hope - not because everything is easy, but because what we do matters, the people we serve matter, and God is still at work.

Prayer:

"God, give us fresh energy for the work before us. Help us remember that even the small things can have lasting impact. Give us patience with one another, compassion for those we serve, and purpose in what we do today. Help us trust that You are working even when we cannot yet see the results. Amen"
