TONIGHT AT 6:00 PM

🌹Mary Magdalene Ceremony of Anointing🌹

Saint Mary Magdalene is the woman who anointed Jesus for his death, refused to depart as he died, and first recognized the Christ beyond the tomb. She alone walked the entirety of his journey through death. She was a woman acquainted with and unafraid of the deep mysteries of the heart and by her presence with Jesus she continued his presence beyond his death, ushering Christ forward by her own being. Her legacy is a portal into Christ--for those seeking to live the holy reality offered us by Jesus through death into life. Mary Magdalene, the first apostle to Jesus, understood the meaning of Christ in the world and she bore Christ as herself. Following the death of Jesus, she was the first to realize Christ in herself as Christ in the world. She is an invitation to us into the full and sacred experience of being fully human in these lives, which is nothing less than recognizing the Christ we are in this world.

We are. We are.

This service is grounded in the wisdom tradition of Mary Magdalene and culminates in the sacrament of anointing. Episcopal priest Cynthia Bourgeault writes: Fully availing ourselves of Mary Magdalene’s wisdom presence today, will be primarily through recovering a wisdom relationship with the ritual of anointing—coming to understand it as an act of conscious love marking the passageway into both physical and spiritual wholeness. She was a woman acquainted with Presence and what remains of her legacy ushers us into a The Communion of Love.
