I dont even like the word "retired" but that is what others call it. So its official after 53 years of ministry and having served in various capacities, most of which have been pastoring, I have made the decision to step away from pastoring. In no context does this mean Im finished ministering. Im excited about new opportunities and additional dimensions of serving my God and His people. I am thankful to the wonderful people at Black Mountain Church of God for the honor to serve as pastor for the past 3 years. We maneuvered through Hurricane Helene and the great flood of 2024 together. God used our church to help many people during a time of death, destruction and despondency. Im thankful to many friends, contacts and churches who sent funds to be disbursed. It was a joy to give thousands freely to desperate people we came in contact with. Thanks to each of you who made it possible. Tomorrow on Easter Sunday will be my first Sunday without a pulpit but I will be somewhere worshipping my risen savior. Godspeed dear people!

Blessings to all our dear friends and church family. As you know our little town is in the vicinity of Asheville and was hit hard from hurricane Helene. The damage is indescribable and heartwrenching. However, in the midst of it all our facility has sustained little damage but most importantly all our immediate members are accounted for. All of us have many needs as we face this disaster recovery together. The main thing we have each other. This helps to face each moment still without electricity nor water. The landscape has changed from one of beauty to one of demolition. Our hearts are broken for our grieving neighbors. For 9 days we have wept in silence because of the pain. We do not know what to say. Thank you for your outpouring of love and compassion. Its unbelievable all the help that is flowing in. We are overwhelmed. If you cant come to us we understand. There is a link to give money please use the link above. It will help us to help others. Thank you. I want you to know we love each of you. Together we will get through this disaster.

We had an outstanding number to show up for our church work day. Fifteen people gave this beautiful day to work hard for the church. Many improvements were made including mulching every thing, lots of trimming and weeding landscaped areas made everything look fresh and appealing. A thorough cleaning of the sanctuary was done by our newest members Tim and Darlene who spent a total of 7 hours just on the sanctuary. It is sparkling clean. Thanks for all who contributed your time and energy. BTW the grilled hotdogs and all the fixings were a wonderful treat served with a delicious cake baked by Sister Chandler. It was an enjoyble day.
