At a time when there is so much war, violence, and division around the world, let's pray urgently for peace. Pope Leo XIV has declared this a Jubilee Year (January 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027) devoted to remembering St. Francis of Assisi, who died 800 years ago. St. Francis was deeply committed to peace and composed his famous prayer that we can all offer this year:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

A beautiful video highlighting the contributions of Catholics over the past 250 years. This was the opener to the 2026 NCPB held in Washington, DC on March 1...

Yesterday, the Trump administration issued an Interim Final Rule that allows foreign-born religious workers under R-1 visas to stay in the United States after their 5-year period expires without having to leave the country for a year to begin a subsequent R-1 visa. This means our beloved foreign-born priests and sisters can continue working in North Dakota without disruption. See the USCCB's press release on this Interim Final Rule: https://www.usccb.org/news/2026/administrations-regulatory-change-truly-significant-step-support-essential-religious.

North Dakota Pro-Life Tax Credit Opportunity: In the spirit of Christmas giving, North Dakotans have an opportunity to help mothers and babies in need in North Dakota. Please consider making an end-of-the-year donation to a women's pregnancy center, maternity home, or adoption agency by December 31, 2025, and get a tax credit on your 2025 North Dakota tax return. This is a concrete and very practical way to show your love for both mothers in need and their babies. We love them both!

Under North Dakota law, individuals and businesses can receive an income tax credit on their North Dakota state tax return for contributing to (1) a child-placing agency licensed by the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services (e.g., Catholic Charities of North Dakota), (2) a nonprofit maternity home located in North Dakota (e.g., the St. Gianna Maternity Home in Minto), or (3) a pregnancy help center recognized by the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services (e.g., the Women's Care Centers across the state).

This is a dollar-for-dollar tax credit based upon your North Dakota tax liability and costs nothing beyond what you already owe. The tax credit may not exceed 50% of the taxpayer's tax liability (before tax credits) or $2,500, whichever is less. To qualify for the current tax year, contributions must be made by December 31, 2025.

Please consult with your tax advisor with any questions about this tax credit and your specific tax situation. Thank you for your generosity!
