As we close out our "Ask Anything" sermon series during tomorrow morning's worship service, we will focus on two things:

1๏ธโƒฃ Questions about heaven.
2๏ธโƒฃ Miscellaneous questions.

Expect to have some fun as we bounce around your questions that didn't quite fit into a specific category. You might hear a question you have always wanted answered but never thought to ask.

Another reason to join us at Legacy tomorrow: it is Communion Sunday. All are welcome at the Lord's Table. ๐Ÿž๐Ÿท

Middle and high school students, it's almost time for DakYouth Events! ๐ŸŽ‰

Youth gather from all around the Dakotas Conference of The United Methodist Church to learn about leadership, discipleship, and service. This year's event is October 9th - 11th in Aberdeen, SD. It's open to grades 6th - 12th. The cost for our students is $70, thanks to remaining funds from our April Impact Offering, plus spending money. The cost includes the conference fee, hotel, travel, and food.

There will be games, worship, speakers, activities, workshops, and the fun of traveling with friends! We plan to leave as soon as possible after school on the 9th. Sign up via this form (we register as a church, not individually) ๐Ÿ‘‡

Participating students also need to complete and return these three forms to Shane: Covenant/Code of Conduct, Release of Liability Waiver, and Health Form (linked in the registration form above). Shane will transport students in the Legacy van. If there are other parents interested in attending as chaperones, we'd love to have you! Please let Shane know.

Guess what, 2nd graders?! ๐ŸŽ‰ We're so excited to present you with your very own Bibles next month! ๐Ÿ“– ๐Ÿ‘

Why 2nd grade? ๐Ÿค” It's a wonderful time for this milestone:

โœ… At this age, children are growing into more independent readers and are able to engage more deeply with Scripture beyond a simple Bible story.
โœ…Their faith thinking is maturing: theyโ€™re beginning to ask bigger questions, to wonder about God, and to wrestle with what it means to follow Jesus.
โœ… Giving a Bible at this stage helps them own their faith โ€” itโ€™s not just something their parents or teachers have, but something they can explore personally (and mark up, highlight, and revisit).
โœ… Presenting a Bible publicly in church underscores that the whole church family supports these kids as they take a next step in their faith journey.

If you know a 2nd grader who would like to be included in this, please contact Shane.

Dear Legacy family,

As we look ahead to the fall, we want to share some changes to our weekly schedule and, more importantly, be clear about why we are making them.

For the foreseeable future, we will continue with one Sunday morning worship service at 10:00 am rather than returning to two. Our church is smaller than it once was, our volunteer pool has continued to shrink, and our financial resources are limited. Continuing to offer two services requires additional people, time, and resources that we simply do not have right now. One service allows us to worship together, strengthen our connections with one another, and be better stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us.

We are also changing how Wednesday nights will work. Rather than offering a full dinner every Wednesday for the entire church, we will have one themed, church-wide dinner each month, followed by adult classes and kid/student gatherings. These evenings will be opportunities for adults, families, and friends to gather, eat, have fun, and connect:

๐Ÿ”น September 16: Fall Kick-Off Celebration - Wear Your Favorite Sports Team Gear
๐Ÿ”น October 28: Sweater Fest - Wear Your Coziest, Silliest, or Most Festive Sweater
๐Ÿ”น November 25: Thanksgiving - Celebrate All that God Has Given Us
๐Ÿ”น December 16: Festival of Lights - Fill the Dark Nights with Light
๐Ÿ”น January 13: Northern Lights - Appreciate the Beauty of Winter
๐Ÿ”น February 10: Fat Tuesday - Traditional Pancakes Followed by an Ash Wednesday Service
๐Ÿ”น March 17: St. Patrick's Day - Wear Your Finest Green in This Irish-Themed Celebration
๐Ÿ”น April 28: Talent Show - Back for Its Third Year

On the other Wednesday nights, our kids and students will continue to meet at 6:00 pm, with a simple meal provided for them at 5:30 pm. Adults will continue to have opportunities for classes and other gatherings on Wednesday evenings as well (such as "The Sacred Echo" class that begins September 16 at 6:15 pm).

These changes are not what we would choose if we had unlimited people and resources. But we don't. We have to be honest about where we are and make responsible decisions about how we use the money and volunteers we do have. That means focusing our resources where they can have the greatest impact rather than trying to maintain everything exactly as we have in the past.

And this is not necessarily forever. If our financial situation improves and more people are able and willing to serve, we can reevaluate these decisions. For now, though, this is what we believe is the most responsible path forward.

Thank you for continuing to be part of Legacy, for your generosity, your time, your prayers, and your willingness to walk through this season together. There is still much ministry to do, and we're grateful that we get to do it together.

Another way we get outside our four walls and be a Community of Impact for Christ is through our monthly "Impact Offering." ๐Ÿซถ

Throughout the month of September, Legacy will be collecting an offering to support the MSA United Way's Backpack Program. The Backpack Program provides food over the weekends to elementary, middle, and high school students across Bismarck-Mandan and many rural communities including Linton, Hazelton, Braddock, Moffit, Hazen, and Beulah.

Since 2013, the Backpack Program has been operated by MSA United Way alongside another community partner. Unfortunately, that partner is no longer able to continue the program this school year, leaving a significant gap in support for hundreds of children.

To meet this growing need, MSA United Way has been asked to provide backpacks for all 36 weekends of the school year. They need to raise additional funding to provide the food.

You can give:

โœ… In person at Sunday worship
โœ… Dropping by the office (9 am โ€“ 3 pm Monday โ€“ Thursday)
โœ… Any time at legacyumc.org/give (select โ€œMonthly Impact Fundโ€ in the dropdown)

We appreciate your extravagant generosity!

At Legacy, we strive to get outside our four walls and be a Community of Impact for Christ. ๐Ÿซถ One way we do that is through our monthly "One Thing."

This month, the Legacy church community is collecting healthy, shelf-stable snacks for Horizon Middle School. These snacks will be available to students who may need a little extra support during the school day.

As we continue building our relationship with Horizon and caring for the students and families in our community, we invite you to help stock the shelves with nutritious, individually packaged snacks such as:

๐Ÿ”น Granola or protein bars
๐Ÿ”น Cracker
๐Ÿ”น Pretzels
๐Ÿ”น Apple sauce pouches
๐Ÿ”น Beef jerky sticks
๐Ÿ”น Yogurt bites
๐Ÿ”น Fruit cups
๐Ÿ”น Popcorn
๐Ÿ”น Dried fruit or raisins

Drop off donations throughout the month:

โœ… On Sundays in worship
โœ… During the week at the office (9 am โ€“ 3 pm Monday โ€“ Thursday)
โœ… Skip the line and ship to the church

Thanks for your extravagant generosity!

Legacy Students, join us for a "Mock-In" (only until 10 pm, not all night) hosted by Peace Lutheran Church of Lincoln! We're looking forward to spending time with other Bismarck/Mandan middle and high school students in the broader faith community.

It will take place Friday, September 18 from 6โ€“10 PM at Peace Lutheran Church of Lincoln (3310 66th Street, Lincoln, ND 58504). Bring a friend and come enjoy: fun activities and games; pizza and snacks; time to hang out and connect; and ending the night with a devotional. No cost. No pressure. Just a great evening to meet new people, have fun, and grow together.

In our "Ask Anything" series, we are going to go deeper and tackle some really hard theological questions. Theology simply means the study of God, which includes questions like: Why are things the way they are? Why did God allow...? Why do bad things happen to me? Join us tomorrow morning as we try to answer the deeper questions of life and faith. See you there!

Help your child discover the joy of worshiping God through music! ๐ŸŽถ

Our Children's Choir is open to kids in 1st-8th grade and will meet on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month (starting September 20) for 20 minutes in the Legacy Students space following the 10:00 am Sunday morning worship service.

Together, we'll learn the basics of singing, explore how music can be a way to praise God, and grow in confidence as we learn to use our voices to worship. ๐ŸŽค No special experience is neededโ€”just a willingness to sing, learn, and have fun!
